Re: Rainy day in the High Desert

Nice ride report. Felt like I was there as I have taken the Santiam, Mc Kenzie and Willamette passes one time or another in an 18 wheeler. One time it was snowing post ski season at the top and there was a Ural up there. That was my pre Ural days but I thought, How cool was that.

Your friends dog Eddie who broke his leg... is he a German Pointer or a Blue Tick Coon Hound (or some combination of both)? [/quote] His human says he is part Aussie Cattle Dog and part Jack Russel. That's funny you ask the same thing I did because when I fist met Eddie he looked more bluish than b...

Re: Honoring Memorial Day

We've always got some type(s) of flag flying. These will be up all of May. Screenshot_20200517-135925.jpg My Mom's parents and my Mom had inground flag poles. I always wanted one too and in summer 2001 I bought this 20' telescopic pole from "Uncommon Flags USA" at of all places a truck show in Las V...

Re: Windy,.......

Ural didn't actually make the speedo so not their fault That's an academic distinction, mate. Acewell is the supplier of the Ural's electronic speedometer in the same way that AC Delco was the supplier for the alternator, etc. in my Chevrolet truck. That said, if one such component failed, it would...

Re: Honoring Memorial Day

My Mom taught me right. Always thank and honor a Vet. Never forget those that have gone before us. In 1979 with the Iran crisis the draft was reinstated. I had to think hard as a "conscientious objector " to the Viet Nam era. ( two of my brothers served ). I decided I would go and fight if called on...

Re: Plug n go headlight replacement

Easy way out, old school... 7" H4 halogen. I've run them on my BMW, and in my Dnepr for years. Remove the old one, replace with the new one; 20 minutes. Your alternator will have no problem keeping up with it. H4 replacement bulbs are readily available at auto parts stores. Edit > these are not 'se...

Re: Left Valve cover leak?

Interesting to me. I've pondered if a valve cover and the top of the head, the barrel have you, is toleranced tightly as much as it is to the bottom at the block as much as it the top to the valve cover ? Seems heads will experirnce leaks at the valve cover much more often. ( Yes I understand stress...
