Re: Pedal Power - Bikes, lets see them!

Have a chance to test it yet? :) Yes. I rode up and down our cul-de-sac in the street a few times sans dogs. Then again with them. They were a little bass ackwards afterwards so I let them just sit in it. Then took them up and down. That was day 1 and 2. Christmas week we stayed at an RV resort and...

Re: Pedal Power - Bikes, lets see them!

Our pups got this cool trailer for Christmas. It's as much for me too ! Been looking on CL and local FB for a used one. Even a child's. This one is for pets. Had to break down and buy it new. Two days after it arrives, an addy close by has an exact slightly used one for 40% of what I paid. No proble...

Re: Does anyone DD their Ural?

My first Mod was Sean's Steering Dampner. It really helped with the yaw, whether braking, accelerating or snaking through turns, or turning hard. It doesnt make it any easier to steer. Just quells the yaw. I had an older Tourist and now an '07 Patrol. Both rides I could coast along at 25-30 and slap...

Re: The big trip

I worked installing a microwave system for a trans Colombian pipeline in the eighties. The FARC was at its peak in those years. They would take hostages and hold them for ransom. Most were returned after were paid for. But there was one German engineer whom had no respect for the Colombian laborers...

Re: Of all my "Vices"

A few months back I opened FB local buy and sell and this vise was "free". The ad had been in 15 minutes and I picked it up within the hour. Screenshot_20200115-130140.jpg Nice score, what do you plan to mount it on? Happy trails, Jaybird My next work bench if it don't end up in the hands of a Neph...

A clean garage is sign of a messy mind.

Maybe I'm looking for an award. I dont know. Southern Oregon Coast

My wife and I snuck a few rides in this past October while RVing the Southern Oregon Coast. It started with a brewery visit to California's own Firestone Walker Barrel Works and Tap Room in Buellton. This is a satellite of their main brewery in Paso Robles. This location experiments with sour and fr...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

7800 kms. Backed off then torqued the headbolts. Set intake valves to .004 and exhaust to .006. All but one exhaust tappets were loose some. Did visual on carb synch. Aired tire tubes to 40/42/40. Inspected donut again. Need to change oil after 2000 kms since last.. The valve set was a big deal for ...

Re: New to wrenchin' on this thing!

"Common maintenance" to me would be recommended lubes and filters service. Valve checks and adjustment. Wheels, tires and brakes...fasteners. You get the idea. Peculiar to Ural as mentioned is the doughnut. Also carb branch tubes not cracking. Cables stretching prematurley. There's more, dependent o...
