+1 on the Rain-X and for fog a little baby oil helps that out. Thin coat, but has to be reapplied after every cleaning so kind of a pain. (works on my safety glasses, don't see why it wouldn't on a shield)

My understanding is the Christiani system can be used on a multitude of different bikes. I've only seen them on telescoping forks though.
