Re: Rear Brake Problem

Now that you say this, should the arm never go PAST vertical? Is this what SnakeOil was referring to by cam-over? Two different things... cam-over would occur inside the brake drum... if you removed your brake assembly from the bike and began rotating the arm eventually the brake shoes would be for...

Re: Rear Brake Problem

With the brake rod nut not installed... how much play do you have on the actuator rod before the brake pads engage the drum? Shouldn’t be much more than an inch of arc or so... When you have everything assembled and ready to ride... what is the angle between the brake rod and the brake cam actuator ...

...a knock that increases with speed and subsides when you throttle off... Might be unrelated to the overly friendly guard rail... have you checked your donut? ...and the output fork on the transmission?

Re: First test ride after refit

Heat buildup in an air cooled engine (or any engine for that matter) will rob you of power... my guess is, we’re more susceptible than most to rapid heat escalation... Several years ago I witnessed this first hand during Spring in Moab... one of our members was out riding in the back country... bein...

Re: carrying spares and state inspection

No inspection in Montana... and we pay once (and a very reasonable fee at that!) for a permanent license plate...

...you should see the pile of spares I manage to kart around with me though...

Corona Bonus plans?

Curious as who’s gonna do what with their Pennies from Heaven... My ‘05 pickup could use a couple new engine parts and a set of tires... New mirrors for the Arctic (I’ve done all I can to keep the OEM ones functional)... Maybe I’ll install a bathroom in Julie’s new greenhouse... :? ...or... the heck...

Kominsky is good... we’re waiting impatiently for season 3...

Have you tried “Lilyhammer”... a witness protection, former mob hit man (Steven Van Zandt) playing in the snow in Norway... what could go wrong?

Re: hunting for coil for 1996 gear up

It’s been awhile but... IIRC... this one is the recommended “upgrade” from the OEM coil...

https://www.jpcycles.com/product/381-32 ... -volt-coil

It’s basically a stock coil from a Harley...

(Quick... someone correct me if my somewhat vague memory is faulty...)
