Re: Tappet Failure?

I mentioned that Van heard what he thought was a lash problem on the alternator or a bearing problem in the coupler. I took it in to Cleveland BMW on the 8th of May. Zach is going to pull the alternator and check out what is making the noise. It is hard to have the rig in the shop now that the weath...

Re: any Ohio rallies or get togethers???

Hey Thomas I was on campus yesterday picking up a cap and gown for my daugher. Several people UDFed me and most said they have seen you over at the music building. You are a local hero on the Kent State campus. They all said you are out in any weather all winter on your URAL. Your are famous and the...

Re: any Ohio rallies or get togethers???

Hi Hal,

I will brave the Harleys with you. How can you say no to a fireman's memorial ride. They run in the building when everyone else is running out. I will give you a call.

Re: any Ohio rallies or get togethers???

Who knew. Ohio may become the Ural capital of america. I had the good fortune to run into Gobium AKA Van Lee (literally). He was holding court in Kent, Ohio with a group of friends out side a coffee shop and I got a little to close pulling in next to his rig. Sorry again Van. No damage done to eithe...

Re: any Ohio rallies or get togethers???

Hey Van

I know Steve who owns the building next to the coffee shop and I met Ted and his friend today. Nice people.

Had a chance to meet Thomas in Hudson and Hal Aurora a few weeks ago. Looking forward to meeting you also.

Re: any Ohio rallies or get togethers???

Hi Van I bought my Gear Up from Heindle's in Dayton last Sept. I live in Peninsula. Just around the corner from Thomas. I'm still getting my skills up to sed on the Ural but I'm in for a road trip. I just talked with some Kent folks at the coffee shop and they were all talking about the work you hav...

Re: Back up generators and a GU

I use to work on T58 turbo shaft engines. Mario Andretti ...all most won the Indianapolis 500 with one of those engines. A wheel bearing fail just short of the finish line. At the time they put out over 1200 HP and weighed less than 300 lbs.

Re: Possibly Helpful Stuff

Had a running light burn out. I found a Sylvania 89 bulb that is 7 watts and not 5 watts.

Walmart same base same price.

It is a Sylvania 89 LL (Long Life)

It is only a little brighter than the Sylvania #97 (5 watt) but every little bit helps.

Re: Tappet Failure?

Hi Folks, Well the Sidecar is back. Same one month turn-around but I don't have a tappet noise. I have only about 50km on the rig so I won't chip it in stone yet. Adam the service manager at BMW Cleveland, Ohio said he put in new push-rods on the right side. Here is hoping. Thanks everyone for you i...

Re: Tappet Failure?

Hi Darrell Well here is the funny thing. When I mentioned to Zach that we thought it was a pushrod problem he said he noticed that one pushrod was about an 1/8 of an inch shorter than the other. He was thinking it was a stripped head bold issue and did not think it was the pushrod. I don't know for ...

Re: Tappet Failure?

Hey Pushrod from hell. You know I think we are on the hunt now. What I failed to say or even realize the importance of, is the valve lash problem switched from the exhaust valve side to the intake side. When I said the valve lash was 016 out I should have said the intake valve. The problem switched ...
