Re: Rotate tires or no?
I’ve got drums and front disk. I rotate between the pusher and sidecar. When the pusher wears down again (the pusher lasts approx 7,000kms - I have minimal tread left) the front is also worn and I replace all three.

Good year selection. My IPhone doesn’t show your location. If you haven’t, add to your signature block if you would.
Welcome and may you have many long and adventurous rides.

Put down your location in your signature block. There might be folks nearby. Crawford Sales http://www.crawfordsales.info/ is your go to for parts and assistance. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks on this site who I’m sure will help. A lot of information on older Urals is applicable even if it’...

Re: Powerlet to USB Charger - Fits the Hack Charge Port Nicely!
Very unobtrusive.
FYI... My charger had a small “on” indicator light. After about four months of wondering why my battery would be down after a few days, that tiny indicator light was the culprit.

Rode 6,700 miles. About 1,300 less than a normal year.
Needless to say, Erika is dependable and I love taking her out for a spin.

One of the coolest vehicles I’ve ever seen. It looks like it would tip over easily, but apparently not.

Re: Tube Splitting at Valve
I ripped the valve stem twice until I learned this tip. I keep the retaining nut about a 1/4 inch off the rim. Rational. The tube will move. Period. By keeping the nut away from the rim the tube is allowed to move/flex and not stress/rip the valve stem. Haven’t had another valve stem rip in 8 years....

Re: Shin guards - all year or just in cold?
The guards do make the ride in cold weather more pleasant. I use ‘em in the winter or when going off roading on narrow trails.

Re: pops when cold
As Recycled said. I’ll add that before the jetting option, enrich your air/fuel screw 1/4 turn and the fuel screws (on the side of the carburetor) by a 1/4 turn and see how that works. May eventually need to enrich by a 1/2 turn
Good luck

Re: How did you come to riding a Ural?
Went to a dealer in Williamsburg, VA to purchase a Vespa for my wife. They had a GU camo on display and I immediately recognized its lineage (had never heard of Ural prior and never a desire to own a motorcycle). Sat on it and was grinning ear-to-ear. Theresa came up to me and said, “If we get the m...
