Re: Soviet Steeds FB

The main issue with the FB page is that people post technical questions and they get some good responses but, it’s nearly impossible to find the thread later on and knowledge base isn’t there.

IMO, the FB Page is great for showing off your rig and posting events.

So Hal, what made you change your mind on how you were going to approach the owner?

Re: What Causes Backfires

Jayferr, I’ll post this again since you must have not opened the link in your other post. Read it, understand it and you should be able to figure most things out.

Re: ignition or kill switch?

The symptoms of it not working and the lights going out Sounds exactly what I had happened to me. It turned out it was the ignition switch. I just replace the entire unit and now carry a spare.

I wouldn’t take it to the dealer. Just order a new ignition switch and install. It’s very easy to do

Re: Almost there

Looking forward to your mini ride reports.

One thing to consider, gathered from reading Sovietsteeds for nine years is with a loaded down Ural speed and weight are not your friends. Always travel as light as possible, and keep your speed reasonable.

Re: engine accelerates w/o using throttle

Galcoste... you properly IDed the problem. When the engine runs on with out throttle Input the cable(s) have pulled out of recess from the splitter. Simply giving the two cables a tug usually resets them. Good job.

I would definitely recommend switching to premium, 91. You can ask around and the other riders hear can tell you what happens if you don't.
Yep, sure can... Nothing. :D  Been using 87 for 9 years
