Flashing battery icon

During a warm up idle this morning, I noticed a battery icon flashing on the led speedo screen. Persisted on all the led screens. No alternator light noted. Revved the engine a bit and it went away; back flashing again when back at idle for a few seconds. Figuring it’s a low charge rate warning. Cha...

Re: Did you ride today?

My gal and I pretty much rode away the long Columbus weekend here in Western NY. Simply gorgeous up here this time of year and, knowing the snow will soon follow and our rides will be few and far between, we simply can’t pass up an autumn opportunity to ride. The highlight was a run up to the colleg...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Actually, it was yesterday. Did a full torque tour and fluid check prior to a parking brake adjustment. Yup, I know, the brake adjustment will hold for ten minutes, but I enjoy going through the motions. Then did an hour or so of w@$# and w@*. Could have been doing the yard work; glad I’d had an exc...

Re: Did you ride today?

Went down to what’s billed as the Biggest Bike Gathering in Western NY. Great day. Overwhelmingly Harleys, but folks very interested in our Ural. In fact, it was really interesting to watch how many people walked the line of simply gorgeous full-custom bikes only to stop and take a picture of our bo...

Me too. Glad I checked in prior to panic. Got the washers and on the job next week. Thanks.

Re: Vibration

Yup. After looking over the trip log I noticed that, while out in the puckerbush and dead low on gas, I’d fueled up with some questionable stuff. The worst of the vibration turned up into a major headwind. Having run a couple of tanks of verifiably full-octane gas, overall performance has improved. ...

Re: Vibration

Thanks for holding my hand through my recent anxiety attack. Overall, I guess I was thrown by a bit of rpm related vibration that had me backing off when I should have been revving through in the situations I’ve described. I’m guessing the rough roads and nasty cross winds I’d been riding had a lot ...

Okay. Didn’t look back far enough and got confused. Hope I’m not too much of a bother.

Re: Vibration

Obviously screwed up somehow trying to post a follow-up. Basically, I found the replacement of some lost wheel weights, the resolution of a pilot-error issue with the steering damper (I was turning it the wrong way) and a bit of adjustment to a small Givi windscreen cleared up a significant amount o...

Re: Vibration

Found a couple of issues, nothing serious. First of all, while checking spoke tension I came across a spot that appeared to have been the former location of some now gone-missing balance weights. Took the wheel over to a friend who has a balancing rig and, sure enough, it was way off. Balanced it up...

Re: Vibration

Wow...many thanks for the prompt and very welcome response. All good advice, I’m sure. I’m going to check out the potential issues mentioned this week and I’m looking to arrange a comparison ride at the dealership soon. Frankly, the only thing I have as comparison now is a brief test ride around a p...

Nice job indeed. I’m starting work on my 650D....hopefully....this winter. Hope you might not mind a question of two sometime. Very best of luck with your “new” ride.

Vibration

Okay...I promise, I did a search and located some references to various occasions of uncomfortable varieties of vibrations. Can’t find a specific answer. For my own peace of mind, I must ask, how heavy do you find the vibration of the engine under load upon taking off from stationary and with a full...

I’m often enough confused at this age but isn’t that a XS Special? I thought they came out in 78.
