Re: New MPG Figures (very preliminary)
Today I ran the tank the lowest I ever have. Filled up and averaged 40.91mpg!! I was thrilled as I have been on freeway at 65mph and lone country roads through Washington Park in Anacortes at 10mph. So averaging almost 41mpg is fantastic (at least to me)!

Re: Worst Event on a Motorycle Not a Crash
1963 on a 1947 Cushman motor scooter. Had a neighbor buddy behind me. Coming down a hill to a 90 degree right turn. Front tire lost traction and went straight half way through the corner. Went through a 4 strand barb wire fence. Needless to say I caught the top two and they broke, but not without te...

Re: 1st aid kit addition
Some of my favorite cigars were hand rolled by vendors on the street in the Gas Light District of San Diego. "Supposedly" Cuban leaves, but who really knows? Good to know about the slider part on Zip Loc bags. I have a rather extensive 1st aid kit in the trunk. The small one in back is more for show...

Re: Essentials for a long road trip?
In addition to all the other responses I would add either a tow strap or a hand winch (come-a-log) .
I bought a 1 1/2 ton (smallest I could find) scissor jack that fits in the trunk still in the box [found at Harbor Freight]
Visa. Mastercard, Discover.
Be safe and pleasant journeys!

Re: 2020 Oyster Run Washington?
There are 2 gas stations. I suggest the one on the north side of the road as it is easier to get on/off the road as one does not have to cross lanes. NOT the Shell station.

Maybe 10:00 as some are/might be coming from Kent or Puyallup.HeyItsNate wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 1:48 pmTrue true. If not, we can stick to gas station? What would be easier for everyone. And is 8am too early?

Re: 2020 Oyster Run Washington?
While the ice cream is good at the gas station at exit 221, if one was to continue further west down the road there is a vegetable stand, Snowgoose Farm(?), that has humongous servings of ice cream on homemade waffle cones reasonable priced. Much better in our opinion. Downside is they have a dirt ...

Re: 2020 Oyster Run Washington?
Also, where should the meet up be? And time? Are we all early birds? I am throwing out this suggestion for a beginning place to meet: I-5 exit 221 (Conway/La Conner exit). Just west of the roundabout is a gas station on the right and a convenience store that offers FANTASTIC hand scooped ice cream ...

6+ years ago when on my month long trip to/through Alaska we went over Hatcher Pass. It looked a LOT different as it was RAINING!!! But it was still a nice, picturesque ride!!!

Re: 2020 Oyster Run Washington?
I can attest that Keith is not the least bit boring! I had a hell of a lot of fun with him and his friend meeting in Bellingham. Of course he ran off leaving me with the conspiracy nut in the parking lot but I could have shrugged and put on my helmet and left. I am new to the social thing. 19th wor...
