Re: 14.3771 alternator

Uralmike the Denso and Herzog gears are the way to go, $700 mod for both, Crawford's sold me steel/ cast gears for my 650 Herzog gears were 3 months out or more, $53, quieter than cast already had Denso alt, saved $150 only to redistribute! Lol

Re: Carb/ Valve issues. Very poor running, misfiring, backfiring and stalling out and more...

My 1995 650 motor runs better with .004 valve clearance, book calls for.002 on both, when you set valves did you spin motor and recheck clearances? Pull spark plug and check to make sure you have nice fat blue spark, if not take a minute to clean grounds, put a volt meter on battery after trickle ch...

Re: CL find: Late model Russian mystery meat

Re: CL find: Late model Russian mystery meat

Clean looking yes! Real world money would be $4900? Think it has Denso alt and ducati ignition? 2002 750 wasn't this a transitional motor, not the best of the750's?

650 reverse shifter linkage

After my 650 rebuild hooked everything back up, noticed putting bike in reverse was a struggle, bracket was moving, put lockwashers under nuts, still not a smooth transition, my shifter up on tank, adjusted linkage rod outward bike would pop out of 2nd gear, will adjust back the other way, looked in...

Re: engine rebuild questions

I would pull crank check for true, have rod play checked, replace both bearings, check bore and rings out, cross hatch hone if needed, relapp the valves, freshen the motor, hopefully get another 65km before serious rebuild!

Re: Denver Craigslist - 1998.5 Sportsman? $4,200

Nice, I have a 97 sportsman, I would swap out ignition for ducati or other aftermarket ignition, keep close eye on alt, if elec gremlins persist, Denso time, both these upgrades are game changers!!! 1k for both! Quality builds on 90 machines are a crap shoot! If limited riding is your intention just...

Re: What to do?? Broke piston.

First thing I would do is try and figure out what caused this meltdown, skirt to cylinder clearance, improper ring end gap, rubber intake cracked sucking air? Something caused this! I would at the very least tear down the other side for inspection, check for any signs of danger on the horizon, if th...
