Re: Dallas Craigslist Find 2006 Tourist- $4200

No Herzog in '06. Would question the need to replace the front wheel after 500 miles.

Re: Tight Fork Separator

My guess is we're talking about the end of the fork leg where the pinch bolt resides.

I can imagine if you allowed the weight of the bike to rest there, it could close and not allow the axle to slide through.

Re: power loss

Assuming you have a Ducati ignition...replace your Hall Effect Sensor. Do a quick search and I think you’ll agree that it’s the most likely culprit. And if it’s not...it will be. You’ll be glad you have a spare on hand. That and a 5 mm Allen wrench and I’m reasonably sure your problem is solved. BT...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

I cleaned off the sand i brought home from our ride in New Jersey last week.

Then it was time to change the oil in all three cavities.

Re: Intro: New Ural Owner in PA

Mifflinburg? We know it well, including the buggy museum :)

Claude Stanley used to hold the rendezvous sidecar rally at the sportsman club nearby. We've had a few nice rides through Bald Eagle as well.

Re: 2020 New Year's NJ Pines

Thanks for writing it up. With only 40+kms it was one of our shorter outings but fun none the less. That route has more deep sand than most which was challenging at times but I'm game to give it another run :) We never like to see mechanical issues on a ride but at least u-joints are just a pita and...

Re: My illegal immigrant got its citizenship today!

I like the reinforced military rims, don't see them often in the US.

The unique mirror placement may leave a blind spot :)

Re: CL find - non-running 650 Ural

That's the same one posted here a couple of months ago; https://sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=55784 It's local and I considered it because it is a good price for that parts collection. But there are not enough crossover parts with my 750/2wd to be of use to me and I'm not in a hoarding...

Re: Front wheel chock/holder for Aluma trailer

I think everyone we can agree that a chock is not necessary but does make it more secure. My Ural is mostly used off-road these days and I trailer frequently. My tie-down strategy is to secure the front wheel in the chock and sidecar wheel tight to the side of the trailer( I tried using two chocks b...

Re: Front wheel chock/holder for Aluma trailer

I couldn't find a good photo of it, but I think a wheel chock is a must. I just use the cheap HF unit but it has held up well. Besides the added security in panic stops, it just keeps the bike planted where you want it. With a strap run through the front wheel I figure it would stay put even if the ...
