Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Waaay way out in the boonieson an old forest service trail in the Colorado Rockies, with my wife..... and...wtf!!! ... the pusher picks up a nail! What’s a nail doing way out here? I’ll never know 40 minutes later and Ive swapped out the pusher with the spare while the wife watches with profoundly a...

Re: Any problems with 2019 Ural's

Bad bob: I hear you ( see my post earlier in this thread). I got things working pretty well (only a Slight pull to the right at 55mph) with the following: 1/2” toe-in, measured off the rear wheel only, with the alignment bar on the RIGHT SIDE OF THE WHEEL, and 1.5 - 2.0 degrees lean-out. Over the ye...

Re: Project Steel Belly

An update on my skid plate for my 2019 GU with the GPR exhaust, which was inspired by BDSD and Mr. Cob: (https://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=56770) I’ve continued to bounce around Colorado’s high mtn passes, and the plate has gotten more than its fair share of direct hits, scrap...

Thank you for these directions and link to the pdf on Facebook. It fixed the intermittent starting problem on my 2019 Gear Up.

Re: Rubber Timing hole plug/cover

Just a note re: eye-screws: I used a small screw, yet when I screwed it in the rubber plug, the screw stuck out the underside of the plug good half inch. So I simply filed the end of the screw down. ...thought you otta know....don’t want the screw hitting the flywheel, or poking me when diddling wit...

Re: Rubber Timing hole plug/cover

I put an eye-screw in my timing hole cover, and tethered it to the clutch cable with a piece of light line. BAB541C8-39A9-4DB9-93B5-2269F5030096.jpeg I tethered the left side cover in a similar way. The cover already has a small hole in the aft corner. A23FC58A-50D7-4E4A-A1FC-D8A6D63876A7.jpeg ...my...

Re: 2020 GU fuse boxes

Here’s another option for adding extra fused circuits. It attaches easily to the positive battery terminal by bending the tab on the red block 90 degrees. I use relays controlled by an on-off circuit like the headlight to switch the items like heated grips and additional driving lights. Blue Sea Sys...

Re: New 2020 Gear Up, pusher wheel out of alignment!!

I’ve had three Urals (2012, 2018, and 2019). All have had the pusher cockeyed slightly to the right, such that when an alignment bar is set against the RIGHT side of the rear tire, it will stand about 1/2” off of the front tire. Consequently I have set the toe-in with the alignment bar in this posit...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Yo, Windmill! The Trangia works great at altitude! .... it boils water really fast, albeit the boiling point is about 190 degrees, due to the altitude. I use Heet for fuel, which is readily available and cheap, with no mess or weird smell, and lights easily, unlike propane, which doesn’t work so wel...

Camping at 11,300 ft in the Colorado Rockies at the beginning of July, I woke up to ... SNOW!
