Re: Remember when.......

Going from drum brakes on all three corners to a front disc brake, aka the baloney slicer, was a huge controversy? The spare goes from fitting all 3 positions, to 2, to 1, to 2.5, and finally back to 3. Confused yet? :P When CMSI still had bikes for sale, when they were closing and all parts could ...

Re: Dnepr MT10 + Bing CV 32mm + eating plugs

Claus knows it all when it comes to older Urals, Dneprs and certainly BMW's.
Thank you Claus for your knowledge!

If we compare a Dnepr to a BMW R65, that stock Bing CV32 carb could be more than enough. :)

Re: Dnepr MT10 + Bing CV 32mm + eating plugs

I dnot know much about Dnepr plugs... It looks like you're runnnig too rich. The question: is it at idle or with chopped plugs? If it starts nice and easy when the engine is cold, then definitely your idle is rich. Fouled plugs clear up when the engine gets to normal operating temperatures and when ...

Oh, it does have the chrome rack. I think it is worth paying the asking price, Tim. :P

Re: New rider, opinions please!

It's always nice to have a car for rainy days, long drives, etc. Done my introductory Dnepr MT-10 ride when I was about 15 years old. In a wide left turn I scraped the sidecar step a little touching a building wall. The yard of the building was graveled though. :) My second ride on a Dnepr MT-10 was...

Re: Need some help, lost power

I forgot to mention the petcock.

The rest like the intake manifolds, flexible joint, etc can be checked later. Some seals will probably show sweating or dripping later.

Re: Need some help, lost power

For a 17 years old bike with only 100 mile on the odo it shouldn't even been started or run before major cleaning service. Should've flushed, changed all oils, oil filter, totally cleaned fuel system including gas tank, fuel lines, filters, redone carbs, checked/cleaned air filter, checked set valve...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

I hate it when I find a part on my shop floor or on the driveway and wonder where it came from. The Oxford Union Society would be proud of how strenuously I sometimes argue with myself regarding whether or not to disassemble that which I had just reassembled, after finding a missed part on the gara...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Took LokiBoy’s advice from when we were doing the 20k service... used a white paint pen to paint the TDC marker so it will be easier to identify during the next service. If you're really patient, you could probably duplicate my Amazing Technicolor Dream Flywheels through the crankcase timing window...

Could be a dirty/partially clogged screen of intank fuel filter (#6 in diagram). Could be the fuel pump going (Hitler) caput and not providing enough fuel at higher speeds...? Various things to check...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Biltwell 7/8" Renegade Grips today. Yeap, they are shorter then the OEM grips. While the left grip was easy to push in with isopropyl alcohol, the right (throttle) grip wouldn't go all the way. It took about 10 minutes to wrangle it out. I then used recommended WD40 to push it all the way in, still ...
