Re: Low Mileage Scruffy 2006 Gear Up on B.A.T.

Don't go over $4,500! It doesn't even worth that much in the state it is.

It looks like that cylinderhead corner hit something GearUp green. Probably the engineguard got bent and hit the cylinderhead.

Re: No wiggle on push rods, head install

Or another issue? Possible pushrods are too long? It looks like valve adjusters are all the way out from pushrods and there is no way to adjust.

Or wrong/short rocker spacers on the exhaust side? Just comapare the heights of both sides if intake side is not tight.

Re: Electronic ignition timing

Lucius Annaeus Seneca the Younger said something similar - "live longer and be wiser"... Your father was right. There goes old Russian funny saying - "Век живи, век учись", а дураком помрешь. "Live a century, learn a century, but will die dumb." Meaning of it: we live and learn all our lifes but the...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Yeah, what Tim said and not otherwise. I have never done any major mechanical work. All I have in my regular 20x20ft two car garage is Sears Craftsman 5-Drawer Steel Rolling Tool Cabinet and Craftsman 101 pc. SAE & metric wrench set bought 20 years ago. Yes, missing some 10mm and a few other sockets...

Re: Electronic ignition timing

When turning the motor over by hand, what mark shows in the window first? B or P? Canadian FJR 1. "Р" (раннее зажигание) - "R" for (Ranyeye Zazhiganiye) - EARLY ignition 2. "В" - ВМТ (Ве́рхняя мёртвая то́чка) - V for VMT (Verhnyaya Myortvaya Tochka), which is TDC Manual was made for points ignition...

I may have overcompensated a bit with this new garage.

Once I get everything squared away, I'll make a "tour" post.
Chad, I like your lift, garage size, shop environment. That's what happy retirement should be and do to a person deserving it all. :)

Re: Considering getting a Ural, what am I in for?

Hey All, After taking 5 or so years off from riding motorcycles I'm looking to get back into riding. There's a lot that attracts me to Urals but frankly I don't have much experience with them. My nearest dealer is about 85 miles away (Ural of New England) so I was hoping you guys could answer some ...

Re: You Can Trust Your Ural

I don't know why. I don't like that much technology in my vehicles. My daily driver is a 1974 Chevy K10 pickup truck that I restored. It's still carbureted, but runs like a champ. The one thing I really love about the truck is that in Colorado, it doesn't need emissions and I can get 5 year plates....

Check this post: https://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=58306#p748820 I think the seller forgot to delete his ad after selling the bike. I guess Larsenf already bought that bike: https://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=58306#p748956 I saw that Craigslist ad posted fo...

The whole country is made of empty walls and drywall, then the crawling space and attic...unlike the Old World. :(

You are very welcome.

Hmm, haven't been inside the 750 gearbox yet. :)
I remember 650cc old Ural gearboxes had paper gaskets. Or something's wrong with my memory already.
