Once I clear some garage floorspace, there's already an old Dnepr in the queue. :D

Re: Error When Quoting Post

I believe the forum had a little "glitch" going on for a bit, there. Perhaps JohnBG was performing a software update at the time? Not sure.

Re: Cracked wheels replacement options

Who is selling $160 OEM rims? I just got a dealer quote for 19"-ers with the holes angled for the drum rims and they were a hundred bucks over that! Ouch. Chad, I tried to answer this yesterday but the Quote function wasn't working. I looked up the rims on the AF1 Racing site and the price was $160...

Of course, this is only for late model Urals. The 650's and early 750's had the gearbox breather on the right-hand side, as shown on the second page of this thread:

No, I don't own a No-Mar bar, but if I can't score a Coates 220 nearby, I've been eyeing the Harbor Freight setup, coupled with the No-Mar enhancements. I'm also really digging the concrete anchor ideas.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Took LokiBoy’s advice from when we were doing the 20k service... used a white paint pen to paint the TDC marker so it will be easier to identify during the next service. If you're really patient, you could probably duplicate my Amazing Technicolor Dream Flywheels through the crankcase timing window...

A fresh, clean pedestrian slicer, ripe with opportunities for clever puns, such as 'GEOMETRIC', 'DAZZLEFLAUGE', or countless other terrible examples, but you just slapped a couple stickers on there and called it a day? This isn't a plebian Gear-Up we're talking about here. It's not even a run-of-the...

Re: A big thank you!!

Don't you have a tire changer, Chad? I bought a (new) Coats 220 manual rim-clamp changer a number of years ago, and have always been happy I did. Do I have a tire changer? Naw, just these pipe cleaner arms of mine. Coates 220? Noice! Coates discontinued that in 2017. I wouldn't mind picking one up ...

Nice u made a Pilgrimage to the Ural Maintenance Center of The Universe: THE Garage-Mahal!! It's not quite to that level yet, but we're getting there. :D I had a great time. I wish I would've thought to snap some pics for posting, but that just goes to show you how "in the groove" the four of us we...

Re: Splines on drive shaft

I'm of the same mind. It's a cool modification, but I suspect the grease only flows through a few splines on the zerk side, leaving the other side dry. Of course, I may be mistaken. Even though I've developed my technique to the point I can pull and rear wheel and final drive like a 1-man NASCAR pit...
