Re: Cylinder Head Temp Gauges

You misunderstand. Anybody who has worked with computer construction would probably understand what I am thinking. Aw, Scott , I was just busting your huevos a bit. You have a valid point and my tease prompted a thorough and well-written explanation of it. Also, as a 26-year Navy avionics technicia...

Re: Just Breaking The Surface

I live about an hour to the left of you in Gordonsville. I've got three Urals and ride 'em daily. There are two other Ural owners within a half-hour of me, too. If you would like to meet up sometime, just let me know.

Re: Cylinder Head Temp Gauges

IDK. I’d be willing to bet that thing acts like an insulator, trapping heat in the filter, instead of pulling it off. Be interested in temperature readings before and after. Exactly. That's the same way IMWA keeps the Ural pistons warm in the winter - by wrapping them in finned aluminum sleeves. :P

The Second Guess to the Second Power ! That kind of pressure is normally reserved for the Double Dog Dare ! I hadn't considered cross-winds and I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition ( of course, NO ONE expects the Spanish Inquisition ). Ah, surrendering my active duty status also means surrenderin...

Re: 2004 Wolf Solo

Post your location and/or the Wolf's location, and perhaps a local Uralista will accompany you to help assess the Wolf's condition.

Hope you don't mind, but I've taken the liberty of properly orienting your images and placing them inline. It's a really cool build and the pics should be displayed properly to showcase your handiwork.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Well, didjuh order the Aeronetsu Kanetstich liner? Didjuh? :) No, for two reasons: 1. I installed the fairing and handguards on the Patrol , which, coupled with a warmer day, made me second-guess the necessity of the liner. G. I have a brief window of opportunity during my lunch break when I'm allo...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

This is all good stuff. I am taking the liberty of adding your pix to my archive in case I need to go into mine. I'm flattered. Did occur to me that Araldite-ing a steel washer over the worn hole might work. Would have to be on the inside beside the nylon gear. This may or may not work. I ac...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Well, it appears that the odometer repair will be a success. I left the mechanism on the heat register in the house overnight to help the epoxy fully cure. Using my dad's benchtop drill press made creating the new bore effortless and accurate. I suppose we'll see how wear-resistant the JB Weld is to...

Re: From Russia With Love Limited Edition

I'm particularly fond of the silver painted plastic "dash". It reminds me of the old metal versions from the pre-EFI Urals. I hope this is a production change that sticks around for all 2020 models.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

I wear and recommend the Aerostitch Kanetsu Airvantage garment. Great minds think alike. This is exactly the product I'm planning to purchase Monday, when Aerostich opens for bidness. Owning a Roadcrafter Light suit, plus a Falstaff jacket and pants, the KAv is kind of a no-brainer. My glo...

How many km?
If the odometer is to be believed, nearly 23,000km.

Re: Cylinder Head Temp Gauges

I have a Westach CHT gauge on each of my three Urals. The one on my cT helped me diagnose a dead cylinder on the interstate before I had the bike off of the road ( spoiler alert: it was the cold cylinder ). Just this week, I used it to temporarily balance the carburetors on my Patrol while my manome...
