Re: Ural Classic 2020 in Europe

For riding on the road and general travel, I much prefer the telescopic forks. I ride a 2017 Retro and have no desire to go back to a leading link. My wife, on the other hand, does not like the Retro and prefers her cT Leading Link, say she "feels the road more" which I would agree with, you feel ev...

Re: oil pan torque?

Maybe I should have antiseized mine too. Did 6ftlbs but they must have not liked that number and my Ural started to mark its territory. :? After each heat cycle, keep checking them bringing them back up to torque. If you used a fresh new cork gasket, it may take 3 or 4 times for them to set and sta...

Re: oil pan torque?

I set mine to 6 ftlb. Rode. Brought them back up to 6 ftlb. Used anti seize. No leak, no problem.

Re: Any Options??

Call Jon at Heindl and make the 580 mile or so trip. That's what I did, after a parade of issues and the local dealer mechanic making things worse on multiple occasions, he sorted it out.

Re: First Bike, shipping

Haulbikes.com brought a 2010 Patrol to me safely and in good condition from California, I'm in Georgia. Was a good experience.

Otherwise, grab a trailer and go get it.

I have a seatbelt that I got from Crawford. I do not have a roll bar, but I also only drive on the streets.
I'm not sure how that is valid reasoning. A Ural can roll on the pavement, in a parking lot, on a dirt road or in the middle of the woods.

No rollbar, no seatbelt. Rollbar, seatbelt.

Congrats! My wife loves riding her cT. I ride the M70. IMHO, 1WD rigs ride and handle better on the road.

I feel your pain. I had to have one surgically removed, had hundreds of various sizes. Discovered that eliminating sweet tea improved things dramatically. Haven't drank sweet tea since 1999, 21 years ago, after that one was forcibly removed.

Re: Welding, Welders, and Welding Projects

I turned my gas up to 40 and slowly over time reduced it. I figured wasting a bit was better than not enough. I kept turning it down and at 20 it started to get bad, now I leave it at 25. Some say it works for them as low as 15, but that's not my experience. harryball, would you please explain for ...

Check your polarity. MIG is elctrode Positive while flux core is electrode negative. I turned my gas up to 40 and slowly over time reduced it. I figured wasting a bit was better than not enough.
