Re: Key Powers Starter

The starter is controlled by several relays. I would recommend removing a relay then turn the key on. If the problem persists put the relay back in and try another relay. Be advised though it could still be a shorted starter button even though there are no signs of external damage.

Re: Uralne solar panel, has anyone actually used it?

The Ural solar charger is a”Battery Tender” brand and can be purchased at a much lower price if you’re willing to fabricate your own mounts. https://www.batterytender.com/solar-panels You could probably use magnets like these for mounts. https://www.amazon.com/Mutuactor-Strong-Neodymium-Magnetic-Pul...

Re: Hand shifter question

If you are going to fabricate your own hand shifter, a “Morse” style cable might be easier to connect the hand shifter to the transmission than the complicated linkage that some others have used.

Re: Theoretical way of improving cold starting of Electrojet EFI equipped Urals

Note: This is all THEORY, I like it, :) do you know the Z of the injector (2.2K)? What about interrupting the spark , this would allow the pump to come on, injector to open/close and cylinder to draw? John I do not know the inductance of the injector, the 2.2Kohm resistor is just to supply a low cu...

Thank you for the information.
My memory may be off in regards to the hydrolock incident.

Ironically the Gen2 efi has the ability to fire the injectors when not running is built into the system, but doesn't have cold start issues.
What triggers the injectors to activate when the bike isn’t running? If I recall did someone hydrolock a Gen 2 bike?

Re: 2017 CT Odometer issue

Yes did that several times but turned out the main issue was not enough pressure on the contact strip, the plastic frame around it had stretched with age. After all I bought it second hand in 1994! Flukes are great DMMs, if the display ever quits, you can get replacement parts for them. I had to re...

Re: Theoretical way of improving cold starting of Electrojet EFI equipped Urals

If I have to “prime” a gasoline engine (and can’t use gasoline) I use carburetor cleaner, it is less volatile than starting fluid.

Re: Theoretical way of improving cold starting of Electrojet EFI equipped Urals

I haven't been having any issues starting mine when cold. Occasionally though I will turn it over a couple of times with the kickstarter though, with the key on. If it starts with the kickstarter, it's just a bonus. Once I hit the starter it fires up nicely. I have heard complaints of hard starting...

Re: 2017 CT Odometer issue

I have a Fluke multimeter like that, now has a strip of card under one of the clamps, which is just plastic after all. In my time as a calibration technician I repaired quite a few Fluke DMMs with faint segments on the LCD display by cleaning all connection points with isopropyl alcohol and cotton ...

Theoretical way of improving cold starting of Electrojet EFI equipped Urals

Note: This is all THEORY, I am not recommending you try this idea. I want to put it up for discussion to see if someone more knowledgeable than myself can verify it or come up with another solution. As we know Electrojet equipped Urals can be difficult to start in cold weather. Some members here hav...
