Re: 2006 patrol questions carbs and ignition

I see on the boards that I also need to get upgraded ignitions system one that is one piece? The "one piece" comment caught my attention. What you may be thinking of is upgrading to the one-piece ignition interrupter rotor used on the Type IV and V ignition systems. This is the interrupter rotor th...

Re: Pattern pending not IMWA product

Van, if you haven't actually applied for a patent yet you'd better get jumping on it. The U.S. is a "first to file" country now. You have one year to file after first disclosing the idea publicly. After one year ... you cannot file for a patent. Someone ripping off your idea does not make them the "...

...on the fly lean compensation? Chuck, when we were developing the Vetter Terraplane we found that the rig could be steered down the road using the "Trim Grip" (basically an over grown turnbuckle) to increase/decrease lean. Terraplane mounted at only three points; two along the frame at the bottom...

Re: Should sidecar wheel be vertical?

Just like any other tire, if it runs on the sidewall (by leaning in, or out (camber adjustment on a car)) it will try to turn the entire rig one direction or the other.). And by trying to 'turn' it will affect your overall steering, probably resulting in having to adjust toe in. Vertical, or as near...

Here's what you have to deal with circuit-wise.

Take another photo, with the "other" red wire in it.

Re: Need Ural tommy bar for axle removal

One of the first things I added to my Dnepr kit; 10" drift, 3/16" - 1/2" taper. Comes in handy for a lot of jobs.

For what it's worth, I always loosen the final drive when I pull the rear axle.

...rated for 7,000 RPM continuous duty. With respect, on what planet? The BMW 247 series 600cc engine technically makes maximum horsepower (40) at 6,600 rpm. My /5 (same engine, larger displacement (56 bhp)) at 5,500+ rpm sounds like it is ready to scatter; operation at a ' sustained ' 7,000 rpm is...

Sven, my wife has sold automobile/motorcycle/RV insurance for the Automobile Club of Southern California ( AAA ) for 36 years; "The Club" also owns the AutoClub of Texas, Indiana, Maine, Tennessee, Missouri, and Hawaii. I ask her what would be required for you to own, register, and insure a rig is a...

Re: Led Headlight

Leave the headlight nacelle just loose enough that you can deflect if up/down as required; the "aim" will vary with the load you're carrying.

Personally... I'm an H4 fan; I feel the down-road light pattern is superior to LEDs.
