Re: BMW GS question

I think like any motorcycle it's the luck of the draw. I have a 2002 1150 GS w/hack and would never think of ousting it. I picked it up after a ride to Death Valley on my 2014 Gear Up. Just got sick and tired of climbing hills at a snails pace. But that's a different story. I'm also curious why thes...

I have a set of the Enduros on the KLR and like them relatively well.

Wonder how the Scramblers would do on a Ural?

Interesting Peter.....I looked at their site expecting some horrific price....I was pleasantly surprised.

Re: New Tool!!

In the case of this tool, I think it's just that the hole saw is not that sharp, or I'm plunging in too fast. Maybe try different rpm's on the drill. There's a few things to figure out with it to make the best cut. Going to see if there is somewhere here that deals in better saws......I'll be chasin...

Re: New Tool!!

Thank you Chuck, I still have a few used 30mm linear bearings laying around / but looks like those are plain needle bearings. You gave me a very good idea. Thank you very much. Tip for first class hole saws: Swedish BANKO = subsiduary of Sandvik... last longer, are more accurate and use the same th...

New Tool!!

Just picked up a JD Squared tubing notcher. Not their pro model, but it will do. Just wish I would have had it when I was building the Expedition tub. Oh well.....I'll have it for the next tub build :) Coping by hand is such a PITA.....doable, but I'm a lazy lazy man

Re: The Expedition tub progress

Nice-looking camping hack, Chuck. Well done! Thanks Peter.....Going to take it out soon for a test run.....thinking about a run to the top of 242 and then through Sisters and back home. Maybe we could meet up somewhere along the way and you could get a first hand look at it. With a bit of social di...

Re: The Expedition tub progress

Thats a large tub! With the cover on it, one can imagine the size. Nice! Thanks Claus.....it has a lot of room inside. Just finishing up the fold out camp stove cabinet so there will be shots of it coming soon. Also working on the design of a couple more built in cabinets and some sort of lock box f...

Re: Steering bearing repair on /2 frame

Nice unit Claus.....I can see it beats the heck out of cutting off the cup to replace it. Good tools are worth their weight in gold......even if they're as expensive as gold

Re: The Expedition tub progress

So nice Chuck. And makes it even more mystifying as in "what's under that cover". Thanks stagewex....at this point it's just a hollow tub under there. Up towards the front there will be a fold out that will have a two burner stove and a bit of counter space. Mid ship will be a battery box for a dec...

The Expedition tub progress

As Alex coined it....the Expedition tub is moving along. Just received the canvas cover made by maestro PiperDan today. I must say I'm liking the look. Still lots to do to complete it, but it's getting closer every day.

Re: More progress on the tub

Looking good. This really looks like an expedition sidecar. I like the exhaust muffler under the tub . On the other hand,I build rigs in a way I can get the whole side car off in a few minutes. I like them to be solo on a lifter to do full service. More easy to access all parts. Some customer rigs ...
