Re: FS: 2012 Retro M70

I met a Gentlemen in Maine last fall who had recently purchased A new Ural Tourist for his 90th birthday. I'm grateful that he took the time to speak with my Wife and I, He really gave me hope and inspiration going forward in my life. So, sspect I wish you good health, an easy transition, and a smo...

Re: Corrosion, undercoating and winter prep

What really needs to happen is a change in how roads are de-iced. In Oregon, the DOT does not use salt for de-icing. They use a food grade liquid de-icer. It is both environmentally friendly and vehicle friendly as it does not enhance corrosion. The only rust one sees there is from the salt air on t...

Re: "Regular" Gasoline... how much per Gal US.

After years of gas prices going up, this downward trend has me worried. I haven't seen gas this cheap in at least 17 years. This is a result of the Saudis glutting the market with their oil in order to shut down our production because we cannot produce oil from the North Dakota fields as cheaply as ...

harryball wrote:Nice option, but I still prefer the hand lever. Besides convenience I get to explain what the "gear shift" is, I just tell them it's an 8 speed manual automatic randomized sequential hand shifter with foot assist.

Re: Ethanol blend wall

Speaking solely from a chemistry and technical standpoint (and not the socioeconomic or political implications of corn subsidies) you guys do know that there is an entire country that has been using a minimum of E10 since 1976, E20 since 2003 and E25 since 2007? And all the companies selling cars t...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Natasha came home yesterday clean, dry and servicable. Flew the chair through the K-mart parking lot for almost 100 meters immediately after taking delivery. Today rode to church in the cold and home in the snow. Great fun.

Re: Ethanol blend wall

Putting an additive in existing fuel to make it 8-12% less efficient makes no sense to me. I agree with you to a certain extent... now if we were getting significantly better emissions (30-50%) and/or the reduction in fuel economy was more favorably weighted with reduction in price (10% lower fuel ...

Re: Ethanol blend wall

So, everyone agrees that ethanol is better to be aged in oak barrels and drank than used as motor fuel. Question is, what do we do about it? Just asking.

Re: SHOW & TELL......

...One more for ya. How could I forget my crony Wild Pete and his grill bike!? This thing is a blast at gatherings. He built it so the entire grill unit hinges towards the bike to access storage in the bottom of the hack, dry and an ice well. Now that is the ultimate in sidecars. Very cool indeed.

I have a better use for ethanol, corn liquor. White lightening. Better to drink it than to drive it.

Re: Crankshaft bearings

Has anyone heard of or experienced supposedly faulty crankshaft bearings used in 2012 and, maybe, some 2013 Urals? I've heard that this may be a known issue and that it's going to cost me thousand of dollars for a rebuild. Less than 16,000 km, all scheduled service done by a Ural dealer and well ca...

Since my Bride is from Indiana and she wants to go see family anyway, we are going to find out if they are going to do it again next year and try to go. She might even ride hack with me. If not, I am certain some of the rest of her family is crazy enough to ride with me.
