Why only '13 and up I wonder?
My 2013 2 Wheel Dr. final drive is different. Prior to 2013 the breather was located as part of the filler. 2013 and up have a separate breather that is lower and more outboard.

Re: Baja no pinch tool question

It pushes the bead onto the rim . It will not pull the bead off the rim .

WTB .. 750 Timing gear cover for Russian gears

I’m looking for a 750 timing gear cover for the older Russian timing gears . It can be damaged or trashed. I’m converting a 2013 750 to points timing . The herzog timing covers don’t have the three holes for mounting the type I - IV ignitions . I need the older style to make a template so that I can...

Would be cool if you made a manual advance to it 8)
John
It would be cool! But I’m gonna try to keep it simple and let the mechanical advance do it’s thing. That is, if the mechanical advance is willing to do it’s thing.

Re: 2013 points ignition conversion

Going on 10 years of use and abuse on a stock Ducati ignition, including off-roading where I did my best submarine impersonation and spent days rattling along washboard and rocks 'til parts started shaking loose. I've bent brake linkages, broken the bike AND sidecar swingarms, countless mirrors, to...

Re: 2013 points ignition conversion

At first I was considering making an adapter plate to fit the points ignition module to the timing gear cover . But after a conversation with Bural (Richard Winter ) last night . I think I will use his idea of taking the timing gear cover off and drilling and tapping the three holes needed to mount ...

I believe if I was doing this conversion I would stay with the sparkplugs called out by Ural.

The only thing I see you changing is how the spark is triggered, nothing else is really changing.

Good luck with the project.

Best,

Jeff
Thanks !

Re: 2013 points ignition conversion

Don't give up just yet, it might be a simple fix. If the PA is still firing and working it might be a low voltage problem, kill switch issue, coil connections, etc. A number of things could be causing a voltage drop somewhere that might be causing your weak spark. Just some thoughts. I’m not giving...

Re: 2013 points ignition conversion

Well the first pieces of my puzzle arrived today. (Thanks Richard ) There is a saying that “ every problem was a solution to an earlier problem” . I don’t believe that my 2013 timing gear cover has provisions for the three hole mount that the points plate has . Big wake up call for me! I will try an...

Re: 2013 points ignition conversion

When was the last time you had to deal with points? I ask only because the last rebuild on my pan I went with an electronic ignition solely because of the quality of the points I could find. Didn't seem to matter where I got em or what I paid for em. One set would last several thousand miles, the n...

2013 points ignition conversion

My power arc ignition committed suicide. It now has a dull orange spark and is fouling the spark plugs . I am so done with electronic ignitions . So, I am converting to a points and condenser ignition. I am gathering the parts to do this. I am going with the Russian points ignition with the two piec...
