Re: Cheap Bluetooth Intercom

Yup, same with us. Rider to pillion or sidecar. Installed your suggested app, playing with it now. Once you have it on two phones, and they're paired, do you have to push PTT every time, or is it open mic? Motolky is an open mic, just like a phone call. I can't imagine having to tap the phone every ...

Re: Cheap Bluetooth Intercom

Thanks for that, codemonkey001. Downloaded and trying it now. How does it maintain comms between 2 vehicles that are no longer within Bluetooth range?

I've had the same apk for Motolky for years. Works really well on every phone we've tried it on, but if this new app works better, I'm all for it!

Re: Cheap Bluetooth Intercom

These are amazing as far as battery life. One charge lasts me about 8 hours straight. I only putt around a hour or 2 each day, so on average they last about a week for just music/maps. Haven't used them nearly as much as intercom yet, but I doubt it matters. Before I got these I had a Sena half helm...

Cheap Bluetooth Intercom

I've been working on this for a while. It's a cheap, easy, simple, but VERY effective way to have turn-by-turn directions in your ear while riding, along with music, AND intercoms to your passenger, both on the back seat of the bike or in the sidecar. *Possibly even bike-to-bike depending on how clo...

Re: Adventure tablet?

Wow! GREAT info, 737AV8OR!! Yes, I'm just starting to explore all the mapping options now that we'll have something big enough for old, tired eyes to see! Up until now, we've been content with Google Maps and downloaded areas for offline use, but I'm looking forward to adding topo info to our explor...

Re: Ural Electric Tilt

I'm reconditioning parts from a Champion Daytona 2+2 sidecar for the goldwing project right now.

How do I bench-test this thing?

Re: Any British Expats here in the States?

While stationed in the UK, I was told by a English friend that he would use a 50/50 mix of strained bacon grease and commercialy available lard for his baking needs. Said it's a tasty substitute.

Re: iridium Spark Plugs

Been using Iridium plugs straight out of the box, ungapped, for years. They've significantly improved everything I put em in.

Those, and Royal Purple synth in the motor, and Redline Heavy Shockproof in the crunchbox & final drive, have woken up our 07 Retro.

I'll never buy anything else BUT Iridium.

Re: Adventure tablet?

Well, one son has an iPhone, and another an iPad, and I can't stand either one, (the apple crap, not the sons!) Nope, I'm tickled that, A-It's android like all our phones, and B-it's only $150. Now that I know I can tether via Bluetooth for 4G, it will be a perfect addition to camp life on the...

Re: Adventure tablet?

Well, Barb went and looked at tablets. Sam's and Best Buy have the 10" Samsung Tab A 32gb for $160-ish. It's the wifi only one, so no 3G-4G connection, but I'm used to downloading all the different maps I'd need for a trip, with all the different map apps I use.

Says it has GPS, too.
