I was wondering if there is a trend/pattern for failure/replacement of key parts such as: 1. Front tire 15,000 2. Drive/rear tire 8,000 3. Sidecar tire ? 4.Front brakes pads 10,000 5. Rear brake pads N/A 6. Sidecar pads N/A 7. Driveline coupler doughnut 20,000 8. Clutch 25,000 9. Alternator 2010 Pa...

Re: Any British Expats here in the States?

The Atora Cookbook http://www.atora.co.uk/Atora/media/downloads/Atora-Recipes-Consumer-Recipes.pdf There is a cook book called ‘Tough Guys Grub’. I used to have a copy, sadly lost over time. The recipes are from a simpler time when we did not have the options available to us that we now have. My dad...

Re: Any British Expats here in the States?

... in Canada Ah the British diet and suet. Commercial brand Atora has vegetable (green box) and beef (blue box) versions. I prefer the blue, but the green is good. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=atora+suet&crid=3IR6IMNJESUJT&sprefix=Atora%2Caps%2C238&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_5 A good food store or butcher will...

Running rich Raceway needles

Howdy Jets 40/130, clean air filter, balanced carbs I have the raceway needles set to the same length as the standard needles. I am running rich - black sooty plugs, otherwise runs very well. What could I do you get the plugs more brown? I have read that I can adjust the needles. Is it shorter needl...

Re: I saw a pig fly - neutral light

I must have an odd bike, my neutral light has worked properly for 7 years now. +1. The Neutral light on my 02 tourist has Always worked reliably. Even more visible in sunlight for the last 4 years - since changing all bulbs to LED. Do I win anything for 17 years of reliable service (13 of which wit...

Re: Just Awesome

top notch
Best and better than the in competition. First used in 1848 when reffering to a lady friend. Notches in the bed post were used to keep a record of the women you slept with. If she was the top notch then she was the best in show.

Re: I saw a pig fly - neutral light

Mine too Dan, but mine has been working for 8 years, so I win, and I don't have a colon. If only your shoulder was as reliable as your neutral light we would be travelling URAL stylee and I could irritate you the whole day long with my victories ... And lack of colon. John's light of course works an...

Re: An easy way to fix a stripped sump drain plug threads

Don't bother with a longer bolt. Save the money to give the welder. The threads are standard "bolt/machine threads" NOT "tapered pipe threads". So a deeper/longer bolt won't do squat. It's the washer/gasket that does the sealing not the threads. Sorry to disagree, but good threads deeper into the wh...

An easy way to fix a stripped sump drain plug threads

I stripped my sump drain plug thread. Here are some thoughts and solutions. Replacement Dealer, with gasket about $100 Terry Crawford does not have any of the $30 sumps left. Russian Garage has a 650cc sump for $19.00 (I think it is the same) M14 X 1.5 Helicoil Or A longer Sump drain bolt at $18.99 ...

Re: Carb Sync tool

The whole carb sync tool thing is quite interesting. So many ways of doing it and so many personal tolerances, preferences and experiences. Personally I like the idea that you can get a tool like the DigiSync or in the past the Harmonizer that offer such a quality solution for very little money. The...

Re: Idle variation SOLVED

Solved this by accident! I changed the idle jet from 40 to 42 and it ran better, but still with an idle that could be nearly stalling sometimes and quite high others. I bought a new carb sync tool - DigiSync - Highly recommended. Checked that the carbs were balanced, and they were, and adjusted the ...
