Re: WANTED: Free Garage Audio Advice

I've been disappointed by Bose, more hype than quality. Their 901's were and are fantastic but the rest of their stuff, meh. Had good luck with Klipsch for my bookshelf speakers with sub, great range and efficiency. Like you, though, I've been out of the game too long to keep up with everything,

I believe these were also used on Bonneville's in the 90's, and probably a lot of other bikes around the world. If I have a chance to look a bit more, I will.
somewhere there are links for jetting and tuning CVK's on bonnies that are applicable to Urals. I stole this from a Triumph page....

Re: CVK32 Cross Reference to Other Bikes

I've used the ninja 250 for ordering carb parts off Revzilla and bikebandit. They had vacuum piston springs Heindl couldn't source. The springs were slightly different than stock so I replaced them as a pair, that was about 6 years ago and no problems since.

It's not unheard of a well pampered correctly maintained final drive to grenade anyway. If yours blows hard to say if it's the lube's fault.

Re: Nervous

It's really a crapshoot on two fronts, whether or not you like the machine, and if you get a good one or a lemon. I went in fully expecting a lemon and was pleasantly surprised. The new ones are better but they're still Urals.

Re: Is dealer correct about sidecar setup?

If it's set up properly I'd leave it alone until you get used to it, then fine tune it to your preference. This would be normal procedure for anyone. Also, the lean out is most likely to be effected by a load in the sidecar, the easiest to adjust. Have fun!

Makes some valid points, they backed themselves into a corner. I like Harley's but never cared for the stereotypical logo festooned weekend "outlaw". Be interesting to see if the company can survive with it's dignity.

Re: Petcock question ( moved from w.h. )

Here's the one I used, shouldn't cost more than $20-30 depending where you get it. Plug and play, only I cut down the reserve standpipe to match the stock. Yamaha 2GU245000200 Fuel Cock Assembly

Re: Petcock question ( moved from w.h. )

"PRI" is short for Prime, should only be used for servicing such as when you're had the carbs drained or sat for an extended length of time and the fuel evaporated from the bowls. As Hal stated, if a carb does leak and it is in prime, that can be bad.

when they rag on the machine instead of asking how to resolve a problem, they probably ought to be driving something else.

Re: Disc brake thickness ?

on my unused pair of EBC FA244; pad with backing plate 8.5mm (.33"). Pad alone, 5.5mm (.21")
What I'd like to know is the minimum recommended thickness for the rotor, mine is getting pretty slim

Doesn't look like a solo to me for a variety of reasons.
the seller said the sidecar was removed by previous owner for another project.
