Re: iKon Suspension for Urals

While loath to commit to a launch date at the present time, I shall post it here first before the press release goes out. Hi Rob Do you have an updated relative time frame in mind yet? I just got my 06 GearUp on the road again and I cant believe how badly worn the shocks are. The bike is unroadwort...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

Phase 2 of the road trip was from Medford OR to Ridgefield WA to visit my son, DIL and grand kids for a couple of days. The trip took about 5.5 hours and was uneventful. My sister and her kids came up from Portland for a mini family reunion BBQ. The Ural spent most of its time giving all the grand k...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

Enjoy, we use a trailer and truck camper. We need to get together and 4x4 or grill, once I get the Ural running or the k1100lt running we should go cruise around. Hi Craig Whats wrong with your Ural? I am looking forward to starting an every other month sidecar run out of Wrightwood. I still have w...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

Phase one of the road trip is complete, Wrightwood SoCal to Medford OR. Whereas it took 4 x 200 miles and 8 hours days to ride the Gobi up to Medford, my 06 GearUp did it in 1 x 13 hour day on the back of the tent trailer. Once here, my wife and I and Ken and his wife Barb toured around the Medford/...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

Hi Mr W. The winch has two mounting bolts, an upper and a lower. the upper is the weaker one, a hole drilled into the tub, and backed by a 2 inch fender washer. The lower mounting point utilized the front left sidecar bumper mount, which goes through to layers of sidecar body metal. The rear bumper ...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

Success! After finishing up the tire we used the winch for the first time to get the Ural up on the trailer. UralOnJJT-sm.jpg After seeing this winch on July1 on the web and ordering it, installing the bumper and the winch, here is finally the proof of the pudding. If you zoom in on the pic, you can...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

Pusher tire done. After cleaning the rim, installed a new rim strip over the existing one that looked good. First bead of the tire was easily levered over the rim, lots of 50/50 water/dawn dish soap as lube. Only needed the two MotionPro levers to get the first side over the rim. New heavy duty tube...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

Half way through the rear tire replacement. The rear tire was installed in March 2012 probably at about 1000 K, because at the time it was 6 years old. I thought it was a Duro 307 but it turns it out it is a Hindenau k27 The bike has 7250 Ks now. It was a bit of a struggle to remove.... but I'm not ...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

No complaints about the Harley police saddle recently mounted, but I haven't done any long rides on it yet ... http://www.brainfartz.com/images/Motorcycles/ural/2011%20Ural%20T%20-%20Finished/slides/DSC07009.jpg Wait... what are those gauges on the cylinder heads? They look slick. I assume cylinder...

Re: 650 Ural - a surprise

What does one do for parts for the 650s, and older 750s such as crankshafts, pistons/cylinders, heads/valves etc? When I visited SKI up at Tri-quest, my interpretation of what he is saying is a lot of folks are moving to the new bikes because parts for 2008 and older rigs are hard to come by and to ...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

When I installed the front tub bumper on my GearUp, instead of carving out a portion of the MG mount, I drilled through the MG mount and mounted the bumper over the MG mount and shimming the opposite mount with washers an amount equal to the thickness of the lower MG mount. I bolted the rear bumper...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

On my 2005 GearUp I chose to shim the left front bumper mount, it looks okay and I never had any trouble with it and it’s been on there a long time. I chose to relocate the Gerry can to the right rear of the sidecar, there is just enough room and you need to remove the spare tire or open the trunk ...

Re: See the USA on a RPOC?

I finally got the sidecar front bumper and the winch installed. sc_winch_sm.jpg It was a bit of a struggle because the right front sidecar bumper mount interfered with the lower external machine gun mounting plate, which prevented the left front sidecar bumper mount from mounting flush against the t...
