Re: Winter Salted Roads

I have a *ton* of rust on my 2018 from riding last year ; almost every part of the bike has rust on it to some degree at this point. Everything from the exhaust to the trim fasteners, all 3 fenders, etc. This bike is not meant to be ridden on salted roads at all, but that's one of the main reasons I...

Re: How much can these be ridden?

Most catastrophic breakdowns reported here or on Instagram are from interstate travels at speeds 50+MPH for more than a hundred miles a day. The cooldown period recommended in the manual probably helps a lot but if you're on a trip that might not be desirable / feasible. I've decided not to risk lon...

I'm really sorry. It's one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I'm sorry.

Re: 2019 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Our roundup for the Minneapolis / St Paul ride: https://youtu.be/zrVAcArX74A It is impossible to try to distill all the riders, the bikes, and their stories into a video, but we tried. Turnout was low due to weather, but the commitment of the folks who showed was high. Chances are that at least one ...

The Coleman ATV cover is a confirmed fit on my '18 Gear Up, with the mirrors remaining in situ.
Yes, this is exactly what I use. Packs down *fairly* compactly; I recommend getting a stuff sack used for swimming gear instead of trying to get it back into the bag it comes with.

Re: Open face helmet, or full face ....

edit : It's a lot different than wearing a 3/4. I'm going to have to add a beard brush to my tool roll now. Ha -- we are doing a short segment just about "helmet beard" soon :) My policy: full face for me and my pillion , 3/4 is OK for anyone in the sidecar. My stepson wears a full face. Compared t...

Re: 2019 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

The weather kept probably 1/3rd to a 1/2 of the riders away, but we still had a great time in the Minneapolis / St. Paul ride. The tone was *much* different than last year, possibly because the only folks who showed were really committed. There seemed to be more focus on people dealing with cancer a...

Re: Does the offroad ECU map help?

I have the offroad map from Ural of Pittsburgh and it does not fix this completely. Mine came directly from them with the OR map preinstalled, so I don't know what the "factory" ECU map is like. With the offroad map installed, I typically start the Ural and then put on my helmet, start my helmet cam...

I'm too far to make it, but I'll add his name to our windscreen for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride taking place that day.

Thank you for sharing this.

An update from my side : I'm still getting other opinions about my frame damage. I'm not sure what its final fate will be, but for now I need to keep it.

Re: 2019 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

How's everyone's fundraising going?

I think I've almost maxed out my friends and community donations. I got approval from work's HR department to post a flyer in our kitchen, but it yielded 0 results.

Any tips on strongarming -- er, asking -- coworkers or other folks to donate?
