Re: Funny or WTF photo thread

I've lived here in the sticks for 20 years. There are 18 homes in my neighborhood, we are surrounded by department of natural resources property. The neighborhood will not get any bigger. We have not had more than 12 trick or treaters, ever. We always have little plastic pumpkins or cauldrons full o...

Re: Does anyone else feel weird riding a bike without a sidecar?

It has been years since I rode a two wheeler. I suppose it would feel real weird.

...I thought it was a tractor? https://images.fineartamerica.com/images/artworkimages/mediumlarge/1/old-tractor-graveyard-james-c-thomas.jpg I had one of those! Mine was a 1939 Fordson tractor, made in England. I just sold it about 3 years ago. I was the second owner! Mine had a 1950 Scout back hoe...

Re: Ural on the Highway!?!?

I've made a few road trips with my Dnepr MT-16, but I stayed off of the interstates. The Dnepr will go 65, but it doesn't like it! It seems happy at 45 to 50 mph.

Re: Funny or WTF photo thread

That's GREAT ! . My pups always come out to 'Supervise' but then go to sleep in a shady spot *just* out of reach . I was doing a brake job on my Volvo, I had all the parts neatly laid out for reassembly. My dog, who had never taken any interest in my wrenching, walked over and inspected the parts. ...

Re: What causes the popping?

From Wikipedia. "An overly lean air-fuel mixture (i.e. an overabundance of air) can lead to a failure to ignite in the combustion chamber, also called a "misfire". The unburnt fuel then enters the exhaust system, where hot components can cause the fuel to ignite unpredictably. ... Backfires may also...

Re: Quality of DNEPR MOTORCYCLES AND PARTS AVAILABILITY

There is Mike Weaver's book, "Weave's Useful Information and Technical Guide to Antique Russian Motorcycles and Sidecars".

It's a self published book. I got one 14 years ago, when I bought my Dnepr. It is pretty comprehensive, you may be able to find a copy somewhere on the 'net.

Re: Going To Pretend I'm 18 Again

I have my old skateboard in the garage. I have used it to move heavy things from one end of the garage to the other, but I have't tried to ride it in thirty years. A friend, who is about my age, recently decided to try roller blading. He fell forward and broke both wrists. I going continue to just u...

Anything but Amsoil. I just don't like the pyramid scheme they market it with. :bs:

Re: Don’t know of this is a newbie Q but here goes...?

Clear fuel filter don't necessarily fill up. My Dnepr has clear fuel filters and they are never full, it runs just fine.

A points ignition will not work without a condenser. You can use just about any 12v condenser.

Re: How many kms

I've been on some long trips with my MT-16, but mostly, I ride around town, with few problems. I rode it up to Vancouver Island a few years ago, it ran fine even though the little inside valve springs broke on one side, it still ran fine. I noticed it when I checked the valve lash a few days after I...

Re: Fuel

I haven't had any problems with ethanol in gas. Even in small engines that I let sit around with gas in them for many months.

Re: Was there really any difference?

In the engine? No, I haven't noticed any difference between brands of oil or synthetic/non-synthetic.
I have noticed a difference when I switched to synthetic oil n the transmission, it shifts much smoother.

Re: motorcycle license

A friend's mother got her driver's licence in Oregon way back in the 1930's when the state was only interested in collecting money for the driver's licence. She sent twenty five cents to the state capital and received a driver's license in the mail, no driver's test or anything! She renewed on time ...
