Re: Engine Speed Slow to Return to Idle when Changing to Second Gear
Yes, welcome  I second what Mike said but would also note that the flywheel is a bit heavy and carries a fair amount of momentum, and if you're used to motorcycles with a more modern and refined transmission, your expectations and shifting technique could be contributing factors. Happy trail...

Re: 2020 Gear-up up-grades and side-grades
I can't leave well enough alone so i have ordered some things for my Ural. And last thing i did not need at all but really want for some unexplainable reason is the Raceway forward reverse shifter, i have the reverse one now, but was always a little disappointed i did not go for the other one. On m...

Re: 2020 Gear-up up-grades and side-grades
Screw your Ural... Wow are all those your cars? Ford GT40 my favorite since I can't see all. Stagewax, you get the car carrier and I'll call the Tartaglia brothers in NJ. ROADTRIP!!!! I never heard of the Tartaglia brothers, but being a Jersey boy and being involved with the antiques crowd for so l...

Re: FB Find - 1997 Ural Deco w/ Trailer - $5k
It looks like it was loved and well cared for. At $3k I'd probably want to see it run, at least enough to see that the crankshaft isn't bent or the gear tower isn't "lunched", and that the transmission and final drive aren't broken. I've seen, and own, some well kept bikes that were laid up in appar...

Re: FB Find - 1997 Ural Deco w/ Trailer - $5k
I would have no fear of buying this, depending on the price. From my perspective any unknown 650 engine/Rig, will need to be gone through, some things checked, some things upgraded, but the price needs to reflect that. Happy trails, Jaybird So what would you call a fair price, Jaybird? Thanks for a...

Re: Rusted crossover tube
Just one more question, anyone know if the SS exhaust system will fit onto a 2008? Yes, 2007 to 2013 is the same system. Aside from the oxygen sensor bungs, won't the newer systems fit as well? Happy trails, Jaybird I believe they will, but I'm not absolutely 100% positive, so I refrained from sugg...

Re: Rusted crossover tube
Well, I had listed three (3) Winter Project issues in another thread and finished 2 of them today. The 3rd would have been removing my exhaust for a nice High Temp coating. They are not rusting thru or leaking or even dented much. Purely cosmetic giving back to a bike that's really taken care of me...

Re: Rusted crossover tube
Be careful and take your time. I rushed it and paid the price. If it doesn't seem to want to unscrew, don't continue any further. I lucked out with the first three and when I was on the fourth nut I did not stop and think about what was happening. It's only an 8 mm stud, go cautiously. Heat and pen...

Re: Older M70 Steering Damper?
I still have the friction damper on both my Retro and GearUp. Although I've heard all good things about the other dampers you mention (Aside from leaking), my friction dampers have performed well enough that I've never felt the need to convert to a hydraulic unit. I would suggest getting some seat t...

Re: What are/is your Winter Project(s)?
I've replaced the lightbulb in the tachometer at least once on my GearUp, I don't recall it being a particularly difficult job. Currently the tachometer backlight on both the Retro and GearUp are out, and have been for some time. I don't bother replacing the lightbulb anymore because I can't see the...
