Re: DIY Heated Monkey Blanket

I'll give a total cost when I'm done, but, yes, it's going to be one expensive blanket. As I said in OP, it's partially a fun learning experience, and partially for the customization of picking fabric that is... Ural-appropriate. If anyone sees anything here that they can repurpose for their own use...

Re: DIY Heated Monkey Blanket

Sewed up the carbon strips late last night. IMG_20191127_210644.jpg As I worked towards the center of the blanket, the tape was slipping around on top of the fleece (which the feed dogs of my machine were struggling to pull forward, as nappy as it is) so I quick basted down the center and then a zig...

Re: DIY Heated Monkey Blanket

I had my brother work out the math on this one - it's 16.44 Ohms resistance per strip. PDF calcs attached. He rough-estimated from the stats that are listed on carbonheater.us

DIY Heated Monkey Blanket

Hi all - wanted to share my DIY build of a carbon-fiber heated sidecar passenger blanket. Rather than scavenge a store-bought blanket, I wanted the fun of learning how to do some new (to me) wiring, and get a really custom look for the gear. The blanket itself will be a sandwich: top (outside) layer...

Re: Final Drive cracked case

Got a new final drive from Ural NE sent overnight. Replacement as about as easy as could be - except for muscling the axle back in - quite a struggle and had to call in a second pair of hands. Was able to get a late start up to Cooperstown for the Glimmerglass Opera festival. A lovely ride through t...

Re: Final Drive cracked case

Apologies for the late update. Was on vacation for a bit.

Looks like I'm buying a new final drive.

Whatever happened, lost a tooth on the gear and way too much damage to the casing. And yes, as RC20 said, totally blown thru not just cracked.

Re: Final Drive cracked case

Thanks for the reply. Of course I have to take it all apart and inspect, hopefully not too much got trashed inside. I'm seeing other threads after searching; a bit disappointing this happened <5,000km.

Final Drive cracked case

Hiya, Today was going to be a big trip report... but instead I’m posting here. 2013 Ural Tourist (1wd) Big trip, about 100mi up, only 20min at 60mph, mostly 40-50mph. 100mi back down the same. Start feeling thrumming / pulsing at rear drive, like I wasn’t getting a consistent power to rear whe...

Re: Tire question

Potential buyer here. Thanks for the input, all. I await seller inspection but it's mostly a question of whether I'll be remounting rubber as soon as I get back home - which is just one consideration of many. Everyone wants their shiny new toy to be ready to play with as soon as they get it. Keeping...
