Re: Saddam Hussein's Ural?

I just worked on Ricks engine so his bike should be up and running soon. Vance Blosser and myself were at the factory in March of 2005 and there were still some of the Iraq bikes there ready to ship as soon as they were paid for. Our guys did get their hands on a few of them. I actually sent some pa...

Re: 2006 Ural Engine Heads-Compatible replacements?

Yes They will work. If you can find some used ones at a good price and touch them up. A upgrade to the newer push rods would be a good idea too if you haven't already. The caps have a better radius and a higher Rockwell hardness but they are still a cap and not a push in pin like the Mod Top that I ...

Re: 2006 Ural Engine Heads-Compatible replacements?

The 2007 heads have the same valves as the 2006. The 2008 and 2009 heads are no longer available. The 2010 thru 2013 are all the same. The 2010 - 2013 is about the only choice you have for a bolt on up grade.
Your pistons will work.

Re: Waking up two Sportsman from the deep sleep

It should be a external seal that is easy to pick out after you remove the reverse lever. Leave the nut on the thread and pry out just a little on the back side of the lever and give it a hit with a small hammer or brass. The shaft is tapered with a straight spline on it. It should pop right off.

Re: Ural and COSTCO

There was one sold in Michigan by Costco but it was set up and delivered by Chuck Sherman that ran a dealership out of a used car dealer in Milford MI. I later serviced the bike for the owner and then again by his son after his dad passed away. It was a 1998 BC kick start only with Mikuni carbs.

Re: Clutch Plate Screws

Before you reinstall the outer thrust plate take a file and get rid of the high spots on the back side of the plate that were created by stacking the screws in place.

Re: Ural Gas Tanl

The Ural gas tank went to the rubber mount in the rear in 1999. The early 1998 bikes and also the 1998.5 bikes all had the bolted mount with rubber washers. This information would be for all bikes imported into the USA. I do have NOS fuel tanks with the external threads for the petcock in stock that...
