Re: Where to find tires

I have had extremely good service from K60’s on my Triumph Explorer so know the value of the extra dollars for Heidenau’s. Riding to South America I put 12k kms on the new rear I’d installed when the trip started, and still had good tread left when i had to end the trip in Colombia. I felt with near...

Re: Where to find tires

If I’m really stuck I’ll order the OEM Duros but I’d like to put the K28’s on. I usually buy things like this while I winter in AZ and bring them home with me (often, but not always, at a MUCH better price than here in Canada). I also have a delivery point just across the border in WA but with the b...

Re: Where to find tires

Thanks for the input but I’d like something directed more to pavement and to more mileage. What i can glean so far says the K28 should get 8k kms before needing replacement. That would be enough to get me to Inuvik, Yellowknife (the Canadian North) and back without a tire change. I’ve done those roa...

Where to find tires

I’m only at 3200 kms but would like to have tires at hand for as soon as they’re needed. FortNine have been an excellent supplier here in Canada for everything for my other rides but am on their ‘Notify when available’ list for these. A retailer in the approximate area today told me the same thing, ...

Re: EBC brake pad numbers

Just was hoping to see the caliper guts so to speak, like a schematic of actuation. No biggee!

Re: EBC brake pad numbers

Sorry but I do NOT see the shaft that enters the caliper as a separate entity, only the entire caliper. Without knowing if what appears to be a large screwed fitting holding the shaft (and whatever else is in there) into the caliper, unless mine was hooped some time in the future, I won’t risk damag...

Re: EBC brake pad numbers

At one point (and I’m still curious) the only way I see into the workings of the caliper is through the large nut that retains the parking brake shaft into the caliper body. Anyone know what you find if that is removed? Is the caliper serviceable?

Re: EBC brake pad numbers

I followed the steps on the link you gave me and the parking brake is VERY firm when applied now, and not dragging when it isn’t so everything seems well in that regard.

Re: EBC brake pad numbers

Thanks for the link. NO, I had not seen that video. Mine is not on the handlebar but the lever behind your right calf. I didn’t realize it appears you want the arm at the caliper at it’s limit BEFORE you start taking the slack out of the cable so I’ll try that tomorrow. TBC

Re: EBC brake pad numbers

Irrespective of the position of the shaft into the caliper (full clockwise), the parking brake fails to engage, even with ALL the slack taken out of the cable, actually disconnected when I wanted the shaft at its fully engaged position.

EBC brake pad numbers

I’d like to note for posterity the appropriate EBC pads numbers for the 3 positions on the bike. I realize organic and sintered have different numbers but Ural doesn’t appear on so many drop down menus of the manufacturers or retailers. I thought maybe someone has them written down somewhere for my ...

Re: Best service/repair manual

A side note to my story, 3 months after I was in Mocoa, the 3 rivers that converge near Mocoa overflowed their banks, swept through the city at like 2 am and killed HUNDREDS. Life is timing right? I emailed the family where I had spent the first 4 days and they were all fine, on high ground outside ...

Re: Best service/repair manual

I was felled by a tree that fell across the highway (it was the rainy season) and took out my windshield and faceshield outside Mocoa. I was headed for Ushuaia and this was to be my last day in Colombia. Neither myself or the bike went down but I had to go to the hospital and get repairs (stitched u...
