Re: Had to ride home in 1 or 2 gear

Ok so got the new parts from Terry. Watched the videos on how to get the rod to seat into the square hole. Think I have the rod seated and inserted the bearing. Put the slider in and it doesn’t seem like it is going on far enough. It’s so tight that I cannot get the lever back on without removing th...

Re: Had to ride home in 1 or 2 gear

Yeah that is what I found. No bearing at all. Explains a bunch of stuff though. I got 400km on it without a bearing. Who has the cheapest kit for a 2006? I’ve been looking at the eBay stuff but not sure if the old style is what I want.

Re: Had to ride home in 1 or 2 gear

So I got special permissions to dive into the Ural today. Really the wife wanted me to stop being so distracted by what MAY have happened. She told me this morning to go to the garage and dont come out until you have figured it out. So off I went... Got the clutch release lever off quickly (there is...

Re: Had to ride home in 1 or 2 gear

Waffl, Thanks for keeping me in the loop on your progress. It looks like I can’t start ripping into mine until Friday. I did just replace my clutch pack so if it is down to that I may have an easier time with the screws than you are. When I ripped into mine before I bungled the screws up pretty good...

Re: Had to ride home in 1 or 2 gear

Man It sounds like your case exactly. So I’m going to start with the thrust bearing and bar and hope I am just lucky. I can’t see the clutch plates being bad already. I’ve only got about 400km on the new plates. I really don’t want to tear into that again so soon. Waffl, I will keep an eye on your p...

Had to ride home in 1 or 2 gear

Hello all, Been a while since I posted on here. Had a heap of trouble getting back on the bike the last couple of years. Burned clutch plates, new ignition system, rusted gas tank, clogged and growing carbs. Got to teach my 8 yr old daughter how to clean carbs and replace the gas tank. That was wort...

Re: C5 install questions

Right so got some more time lately to wrench. Think I have the ignition installed and set correctly. Tried to take it out for a quick shakedown ride. Fires up and idles fine, now I am getting some backfires when I give it some throttle. Going to redo the valves and carb balance next. Hopefully I wil...

Re: C5 install questions

Ok so called c5 and figured out where I was going wrong. I had assumed that I would be using the existing connections from where I had removed my old coil. He told me to skip the stock wiring and just wire up new connections to the battery for the coil. The switch business is still a bit of a bother...

C5 install questions

I got a long spacer and a short one. Long one in first (per video instructions) then disk and short on on top followed by bolt with washer.

I shimmed out the long spacer and got the disk to sit evenly between the arm and the unit.

C5 install questions

Ok so spacer isn’t long enough for sure. Working on a shim for that. I have the instructions that came with it. I have also reviewed the video multiple times. I am looking for where the wires go by sight not by wording. For instance, which wire connects to the plug (two red wires terminated together...

C5 install questions

Hello all, So I must be having a rough week because I cannot wrap my head around the c5 install. Has anyone done a video or step by step with pictures? Something more in-depth than the 12 min YouTube video? I am looking for the wiring hookups after the unit is on the bike. Also is the stainless disk...

Re: Question for military or civ dod

So I dropped this question on a guy that just pcs’ed to Germany. Regular 2 wheeled bike. He said they shipped his in bike and trailer both in hhg. His truck counted as his pov. The question regarding the endorsement on the license he had no answer for other than Belgium is it’s own country:) We woul...

Question for military or civ dod

Hello all, We have been looking into an oconuc pcs to Brussels lately. Anyone had experience taking their ural? I read that we could put it in hhg and not be a pov. I was reading the drivers license section for Benelux and it says that the motorcycle endorsement doesn’t cover trikes or sidecars. Tha...
