Re: 2019 GU dumped it's transmission oil.

Fun updates! Some may recall me talking about my oil soaked FD, I spoke with IMZ and they offered the remote breather on warrantee and that did just the trick! They said that they're thinking of making it a standard feature for future bikes. HOWEVER, when I brought my bike into the dealer, they said...

Re: I was going to repaint in camo, but maybe Adidas track suit is better

Why? On my first fill up I spilled gas on the tank and had it wiped off in 3 seconds and it left a bad stain, and the factory left running paint on the hack. The C182 coded paint is A: pretty fragile to my expectations, and B: poorly applied. Neither of which I'm worked up about, just means that I ...

Re: Is Riding my Ural During a Global Pandemic Socially Irresponsible?

The irony of "safer at home" and "keep your distance" orders yet 100s of domestic flights hourly everyday. Regarding this, most travelers that I have observed in the last two weeks are necessary for the infrastructure of the nation. Many healthcare professionals, many government employees, travel i...

Re: Big Beemer Boxer (1800cc)

I dig it, and if I didn't already have a Rocket III, I'd be real interested in picking one of those up, and if not, I can look at that engine real crossed ways, as a replacement if the 750 ever craps out (and yes I'm aware that I don't want to do 120mph, and of weak links down the line in drivetrain...

Re: Any problems with 2019 Ural's

Yeah, Regarding the issue of the transmission cases, so far it seems to effect .4% of them (did they make 1,000 bikes last year?), so if you have a 19, it's probably just fine, and if not, hopefully it cracks before your warrantee is up and you get their replacement which is said to be sturdy like b...

Re: pitted cooling fins

Thanks guys, a lot of great pointers. My fins were very white, but hopefully not too deep. I went at it today with a brillo pad soaked in WD-40, followed by a blue shop paper towel, followed by Q-Tips, and as for now, that seemed to have done it. It seems as though that it just needed to come into c...

Re: Liberty Mutual Commercial

Ironically, when I bought my 2019 GU, Liberty Mutual wouldn't insure the bike, they actually wouldn't insure any of my bikes except for the Honda Shadow.

Re: C-19 and the Ural Community (Corrected Title)

I wonder if Ural is going to extend warranties? I have a warranty issue, no way I'll get it to a dealer any time soon. yes, they are extending their warrantees by 90 days. Their website/blog reflects this. Regarding the harrowing story of the doctor shoving the intubating tube. In exposing his staf...

I was going to repaint in camo, but maybe Adidas track suit is better

I was all lined out to repaint my bike in a camo pattern that I want to develop and call it a business expense, but why not go full Slavic and paint it black with 3 white stripes? A Google search doesn't return anything, but I can't imagine that it hasn't been done before

pitted cooling fins

I have a 2019 GU with 1300 miles, I drove the bike once in the snow (assuming salt), and rinsed it off, and I've ridden it in the rain several times. The fins are very pitted, I've been struggling to get a picture loaded, so if I don't, please just trust me that it looks like it has a white rash. I ...

Regarding the fear of air travel, and the recycled/airplane air: I spend about....28 hours in an airplane a week and will happily indulge everyone with why I think airplane air is safe for you. Re: 2019 GU dumped it's transmission oil.

I finally got my GU back from the shop. Ural said that this was the case with very few bikes with very high miles (mine had 1,300) and have been kick started a lot. They said the new tranny is improved, and can handle the kicks. I'll probably back off kicking it twice before starting, but happy to h...

Re: Any problems with 2019 Ural's

My transmission case was the fourth to crack in the same spot. They said it was happening on bikes that were kicked started and had lots of miles (mine had 1,300). The new transmission cases are supposed to be much better. Hopefully that's so, but it was replaced on warrantee, so if yours isn't grea...

Re: Breaking in a new transmission

I just had my transmission replaced too. Both the dealer (who said the Ural's were carbonated until 2019 and that phasing the drive shafts doesn't matter) and Ural HQ in Redmond said that only the oil change is what needs to be observed. HQ said "take it easy for the first couple miles just to make ...
