I avoid driving/riding a night...too many drunks, too many critters, and when the apples are on the ground, and fermenting, too many drunk critters.
What about fermenting critters?

I don't ride much after dark, but when I need to it's nice to have the additional illumination.

Understand you want to fix your spotlight because your bike already had one, but are spotlights useful? :?
I love it for running late at night, shine the beam on the shoulder ahead of me to watch for deer.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

You can try Jon at Heindl and see if he has or can get it. I think they are closed today but call them tomorrow. https://www.heindlengineering.com/ Thanks! I suppose i could replace the entire lamp nacelle if I had to, but that might be a bit more spendy. Update. Heindl says they can only sell the ...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

I broke it! Or rather, it broke itself. Saw the spotlight was getting a little wiggly at the beginning of my ride Saturday "ok, no big deal I'll tighten it back down when I get home". By the time I got home it had fallen off completely. Looks like the little doohickey that holds it all together has ...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

I had to remind someone (again!) not to film me from the adjacent lane WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I've been witness to similar inconsiderate driving (inconsiderate because the offending driver is now slowing the traffic that is following them in the left lane). No fingers, no gestures, no drama....

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Went into town yesterday with Dog and rode around for Independence day. Came home before the fireworks started; she's not fond of the noise. Lots of the usual waves and hi-fives. I had to remind someone (again!) not to film me from the adjacent lane WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. This is usually acco...

Re: Does anyone remember...

I use the 'dead reckoning" system of navigation....my destination is about 50 miles that way... so I'll just head that direction til I think I'm close, then figure it out from there. I hate GPS, it feels like cheating. Also hate stopping to have to squint at a tiny screen and turn-by-turn is lame an...

Re: Mr. Cob & JohnBG

It takes a certain amount of intestinal fortitude to own up on mistakes, even if made a long time ago. One thing I've learned in life is that one should always be careful with one's words, cuz once spoken they cannot be taken back. I make it a point to never talk crap about anyone and try to always ...

Re: Front brake cover slop/tolerances?

Humph. Well, like I said it doesn't appear to be doing any harm but I'll take a quick video of it for demon-stration porpoises later and see what the hive-mind thinks of it. Just has a little bit of play in it from side to side.

Front brake cover slop/tolerances?

Ok, so on my FrankenUral, the front forks and everything down look like they were scavenged off a Dnepr. The front brake drum cover assembly just sort of seems to hang there balanced on the struts, and it will occasionally make contact with the outer edge of the inside surface of the rim. If I spin ...
