Re: Dealer Recommendations in Southern California

Never tried Marks because the first and only time I called him, he was unprofessional with me. I thought I did a beautiful job explaining to him my alignment woes and his response was "what are you complaining about?" Maybe I caught him on a bad day but I was turned off by that and went to Nick@ Ro...

Re: Flying the chair

Not sure if it was just mine, but after an hour of practicing flying the chair, I lost my final drive dipstick on the drive home.

Re: Sumthin' I've been noticin' lately

Rob, Interesting conversation. First off I read almost daily and have NOT noticed a younger generation ( meaning 20-40 yr old ) . However I havent been following the "wrenches" religiously. ( Prob a good thing. ) I dont think you ever will. Urals are expensive “toys” even used. What 20 or something...

Re: Intermittent Starting Problem

Anything starter related I’d first check the starter wiring to make sure its clean and secure. Then wander up to the battery, then manually checking the Starter relay. Last would be a button check.

Re: Sumthin' I've been noticin' lately

Snake- I believe it. Since joining 2 years ago, I check the site every day. Lots of new introductions and then gone! Is it cause Urals are getting so reliable that they dont have any questions? Or, maybe its just easier to pay someone to fix it for them? I’m happy to work on my scooters, Ural or lig...

Re: Correct 2011 Patrol Rear Brake Switch?

Rather than cut off any wiring, can you build jumpers? A few correct male/female spade connectors soldered to some 16 gauge wire and bingo youre good.

Re: Correct 2011 Patrol Rear Brake Switch?

The one on the right (Holopaw) is what’s on my 2011. Ditto for my 2010. it is the only brake switch I know of on at least the 2005's to at least 2011. Ditto on my 2011 Tourist. There should be a nut with that too. That way when you get the right amount threaded into the housing to signal the bulb, ...

Re: How Much Oil Should be under the Head Covers?

Back in the day Ski told me the story of how he found the cylinder gaskets backwards and the drain hole was blocked. He would check cylinders with a long rat tail file or something thin. Can you confirm?

Re: Alignment tips for constant 50-55mph

A little update. I took the Tourist to the nearest approved Ural mechanic 55 miles away on the Interstate. Nick @ Rosso Corsa had his hands full and said my rig was the worst he’s ever seen out of alignment. Nose up, toe out, car extended too far away from the bike. His boss unfortunately wouldn’t l...

Bolt on aftermarket suppliers

Other than IMZ and Raceway, are there any other vendors that make bolt on back rests? I may have to put 3 people on the Tourist and like the idea of a back support/oh $#!+ support for the bike bench seat.

If the OP ain't scared or confused by now, he obviously isn't paying attention... Slightly puzzled yes. Disappeared, not yet. Re: Alignment tips for constant 50-55mph

Since the consensus is theres too many variables, I just scheduled an appointment to a nearby Ural dealer. I'll have them align it per the manual, mark all the legs with a paint pen and then adjust from there. If things get worse I'll at least have my marks to get back to.
