Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Since I am considered "essential" I rode my Ural to work today. https://photos.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Sidecars/Uraling-26-Mar-2020/i-H6PNXKL/0/8229982e/M/IMG_6463-M.jpg Zookster, What airport is this? Are the planes being stored during this downturn or maybe a heavy maintenance or alteration base?...

Re: Corona Bonus plans?

Mine is already spent! A large brake repair bill for one of the cars, four car insurance premiums due, and homeowners premium due. Maybe i will have some extra cash during round two, three or four of the bailout. I mean economic stimulus.

Re: What's everyone doing to pass the time in isolation?

No axe throwing for me! Being retired I have the privilege of staying home full time. I am in the middle of my Junior year of high school along with my youngest daughter. We have been homeschooling our kids for the last 18 years and this is our last child. After school I am working on a rebuild of a...

Re: Have to rev engine while in 1st to prevent it from stalling

Oil diluted with fuel was done intentionally for aircraft engines in very cold climates. I would assume before multi viscosity oils were around, fuel would be mixed with the oil to thin it down. here is a link to a discussion. https://backcountrypilot.org/forum/oil-dilution-13805 Tim

take the sidecar windscreen off. I find that the sidecar nose does a pretty good job of deflecting the wind while being the monkey. i'm not a big fan of the looks of the windscreen either.

Re: Oxford Heated Grips Style Choice ? Others?

I am going on my second season with the oxford heated grips and I am very happy with them. Since I have hippo hands mounted on the bike the external controller comes in handy. I altered the bracket that comes with the controller to mount it on the windscreen support. heat control 2.JPG Even though t...

Re: Fuel burn: 2005 with 20k vs 2013 with 3k?

Ural engines typically don't get really broken until they have someplace between 10,000 and 15,000 kilometers. Also Ural never run rich new unless the dealer or owner has made changes to them. Urals run very lean in order to meet EPA requirements. Syonyk, My observation is the similar. At 6,000 km ...

For those keeping track of the progress (and lack thereof) of my clutch, the issue has been discovered.

Waffl6,

you are doing a great job wrenching on this bike! Hopefully, when you get it buttoned back up, you will get some trouble free miles behind you. good luck.

Re: Cannot engage in reverse

AA My bike is a 2013 gear up. the only way i can find neutral is by going into first gear, then i apply a gentle pressure on the heal shifter while simultaneously moving the neutral/reverse lever backward. this will get the transmission in neutral and sometimes it will go directly into reverse, othe...

Re: 2013 GU poor fuel economy

I have been through three more tanks of gas. No calculation from the first tank due to taking the carbs off three times, 23 mpg on the second and 27 mpg on the third. This was with 130/42 jets, one shim, and riding conservatively. Today I checked the valve lash, removed the shim (no shims now) and ...
