This year's Christmas present?

Re: unbalanced TB cause holes

Now to focus on the red hot exhaust port. Guess I'll try swapping the injectors to see if it moves too, but this weekend will be spent working on the truck. Just on the OBDII figures, PSI is such a low value that even with a decimal added it is touchy. Change the setting to kPa for more range. Aim ...

Re: unbalanced TB cause holes

UPDATE: Got to speak with the shop mechanic today. He corrected me, there was not a hole in the piston at all. It appears a piece broke off the ring causing the pressure issue and the old leak. He replaced the heads, pistons and rings due to damage from the broken piece. He also said this was a fluk...

Re: unbalanced TB cause holes

There is no way to adjust lean or rich using OBD. Disconnect the hose that goes from the front of the crankcase to the airbox and see how much crud is in there, what comes out when the engine runs. If your oil level is at the high, or above the high mark, it might spit a lot of oil. If there are bl...

Re: unbalanced TB cause holes

What octane gas are you running? 87 will cause your problems, 89 might, 93 shouldn't. Did the crankshaft position sensor have gunk on the magnet? Is the breather pipe from the crankcase (front left of engine) to the air filer dripping oil? Always run 93. Funny thing you mention it though, about 20 ...

Re: unbalanced TB cause holes

Unbalanced TB's won't blow a hole in a piston. Holed pistons are generally a too lean condition or timing too far advanced. +1! Where your plugs look o.k with their light brownish color. Is that in idle or did you ride it and cut off engine? The plug gaps should be around 0,6 to 0,8 mm. Don´t know ...

Re: unbalanced TB cause holes

I have the off road map installed, according to the dealer. I've added pictures of the spark plugs from November after a nice ride and cooling a little. I also keep the oil at 3/4 full on the dipstick. I found if I keep it much higher it would leak from the heads until it reached 3/4. I'll start che...

unbalanced TB cause holes

I continue to experience about 2" of exhaust glowing red at the right head at the exhaust port. I don't know if it's related, I've also had the left poston replaced twice and the right once from burnt holes. From what I understand the glowing is caused by running rich. I don't know how to adjust thi...

Oil Pan bolt washers

Yesterday I replaced the oil pan gasket with the recommended silicon reusable gasket. I did not realize the bolts used crush washers, which I didn't have. I did use standard washers, but that backfired and oil is dripping from one of the bolts close to the shifter. The solution I plan is to drain an...
