Re: How many of us are active hams?

Sorry for being away for so long. Updated my license to Extra, and changed my call to WO6Y. Also, added an ATAS 120A behind the tub, 2m/70cm mag mount to the rear fender, and an 857D. It's not mounted on the rig yet, but I operate it on the nose of the sidecar with excellent results for such a compr...

Re: Garmin GPS Mounting and Power

I believe your Garmin is the BMW branded version of my Zumo 665. If so, a mount can be found eBay, if you don’t have one, and the mount shown in the photos is from SWMotech. As for wiring, I originally wired it behind the headlight, but found it was better to just do a home run to the battery. The o...

Re: Florida Purchase / Payoff / Title question

This sounds totally iffy. Do not proceed. Your agreed purchase price is not enough to pay off the Ural to start out with. He can't pay it off or even pay for it as is. The only way this would be legit is if the CU decided to take what they could, that has to be in writing, witnessed. I totally doub...

Re: Which helmet com system?

I'm a big fan of the Sena units. If it were me, I'd go with their latest:the 30K Really no more expensive than the 20S, or the Evo 20S. Separate antennas for both bluetooth and mesh networks. If you can find one of the 20's used, at a decent price, that's also a great way to go... Craigsist is your ...

Neither my '14, or my '15 chatters. I agree with the above. Time for a visit to a shop.

Re: Weather proof gps

I have the 665 LM on a Twisted Throttle mount on top of the handlebar clamps. It's the model with SiriusXM, so I've routed the puck to the top of the tub. It, as well as my cellphone, connect via a Sena. Makes a leisurely ride a pleasure. I also used to have their cage mount for it on a Uly, but tha...

Re: Headset recommendations?

The fabulous communicators pictured above not withstanding, the new Sena 30K models are awesome. (Damn, that photo is great! LOL) Yes, you can find older model Senas cheaper... and if you're just going short distances/connecting with a passenger, or another rider, that's probably fine. I've had/had ...

Re: Anybody shoot Trap?

+1 for Bill's comments, but let me add one more thought. Look around, and you may find some excellent deals. As an example, I bought a Browning 525 20ga and a Remington 1187 12ga from the son of a member who's father had died for ~$1k. Lots of extras, and both guns were in as-new condition, with bea...

Re: California Emissions Sticker

Just my 2-cents, but if the bike was originally sold in CA, you should just proceed to getting it registered. I've never had an issue where DMV wanted to see a sticker on a CA bike, no matter where I purchased it. it should already be in the database.

Re: Alternative tonneau cover for 2014+ ?

Which cover are you having problems with? They make two different covers for 2014+ bikes. The one I have is supposed to be Sunbrella fabric. The other is a vinyl coated fabric, which I haven't tried, but Triquest has in stock. The newest Sunbrella cover from I think 2016, has two tabs with elastic w...

Pretty sure (OK, positive... LOL) the 2017 and up shifter has rubber coverings. Ski at Triquest was selling them for ~$50. Check your local dealer to be sure...

Re: Dealer Recommendations - Close to Reno, NV

You’re right, there’s a dealer in Roseville- but I’d recommend Ski at Triquest in Santa Clara. It’s farther, but well worth the drive. FYI, prices will be about the same everywhere, but Ski stocks parts, and provides top-notch service.
