1990 Ural and Model of It

I saw these on ebay and thought it was interesting to see an actual bike and a model s-l1600-2.jpg s-l1600.jpg https://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-Ural-IMZ-8-103/274044800625?hash=item3fce57ce71:g:8noAAOSw2rVdnDYc https://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-model-1-18-URAL-IMZ-8-923-Patrol-NEW/202339879878?hash=i...

Re: Ebay 650 solo

Looks to me like it is with a number of modifications including the original 650 engine being replaced with a 750.

Re: Back wheel leaking oil

You will want to clean the brake shoes thoroughly and soon if you want to save them. I had a much smaller leak that I did not detect as quickly as you did and it destroyed the shoes. I have one wheel drive and mine calls 3.5 ounces (103mL) of oil in the final drive. Perhaps the two wheel drive model...

Re: Fuel Petcock

For all the trouble, I'd just replace the old petcock with a Yamaha unit. I think the Yamaha units match the newer style tank that has two bolts as opposed to the threaded bung. An adapter along the lines of this would be needed for the Yamaha style petcock although this one does not list any of th...

Re: CJ 750

For the right buyer, this is a great buy. Why a big battery ? Looks like a total loss electrical system. I'm not a fan of those but with the way this one is setup they are probably just cruising around town and can probably get everywhere they need to go sans alternator. And is there no rear pusher ...

Re: Oil Change without Filter Change

Thank you all for the input. I don't have the deep sump The owners manual calls for 74 oz. which is what I put in not thinking about the filter. I suspect that 2 quarts would have been right on. I will see what I can find about overfillimg for cooling purposes to see what I can learn. Thanks again.

Re: Oldest Ural

1956 IMZ M-72, bought in pieces from another forum member, just retired on Sep 4th, so rebuilding it becomes priority number 1 Congratulations on your retirement! It sounds like you have an excellent project on your hands. I am intrigued by the older Urals and would love to get one someday. It seem...

Oldest Ural

I was curious about which Soviet Steeds member owns the older Ural. Does anyone own one from the 1940's or 1950's?

Oil Change without Filter Change

Anyone happen to know how much oil is appropriate when changing the oil on a 650 without replacing the filter? I replaced my pan gasket. The oil only and gasket only had about 700 miles on it. I probably should have drained it in to a clean container or at least measured it but I did not. It looks l...
