To tighten or Not tighten...What Nuts

Can I Please get some help on what Nuts I should be checkin on my 2007 Gear-Up. I haven't had my first service yet and just lost a nut to my windshield and now wondering what else is comin loose. Kinda freakin out about bigger things comin apart. Thanks for the help... :?

If you want somewhere to start at first - deal with everything related to the wheels, then the hack, then the frame, then the rest - literally every fastener on the rig needs to be checked often. That includes all electrical connections, and fuel connections. Check the tire pressure every day, as it is going to go down every day. The hotter it is, the more the tubes leak.

I've had very little problem with tubes leaking. I been able to get every new tyre to settle in and stop leaking if it was a problem at all, a couple were but for the most part I don't leak a lot of air. Ahh heemmmm ah not from my tyres anyway... :wink:

It don't matter where you start...one end or the other...because it will be the fastener that you overlook that will fall off. Once the nuts rust in place you won't need to be so attentive to this part of the maintenance routine. Don't be a friggin' he-man and snap and strip stuff. Just turn until it starts to snug up and no more than a 1/4 turn after that. It only takes a 1/2 hour or so to go over the bike...get busy...then RIDE!

Every bolt every week.
The rig gets used every day and I do a walk around every morning, grabbing the struts and other frame parts and giving them a good shake. It's amazing what you find will come loose. These rigs just have a lot of bolts holding everything together. Probably twice as many as a normal motorcycle.....
But we are not normal motorcyclist :lol:

I've had to zip-tie a fuel line for now...will get to work on bike today. Tire pressure...read in the Manuel: Front 32 psi Side 30 psi Rear 40 psi, Is this what you all run with? O ya isn't it lefty loosey righty tighty :lol:

With me at 250#, my kid at 200#, I run with a little more, 2#-3# each spot seems to work. I'm really happy with my tyre performance since the Duros have been available. I want to try one of those squared up Heinamens and Avons though.

tighten until it breaks, then back off 1/2 turn. :lol:
