naming your rig

Postby mightymatt43 » Sat Feb 16, 2008 4:28 pm

so i've noticed that many of you have named your rig. i was wondering if there were any rules or regulations as i'm considering a name for my GU.

does it need to be russian?
does it need to be a female name?
etc, etc...

Not sure, I got my name, the "Green Pet" from New Jersey Motor Vehicle as they abbreviated Patrol as "Pet" instead of "Pat."

Unless you just have a name in mind that you cannot live without, just let the circumstances be your guide. Just motor around and let the bike name itself. It will come in due time. I am sure that there is a reason that you have a dog named Bacon.

I just call mine, the Dnepr. That way I don't confuse it with the Truck or the Volvo. :D

well... I guess my Patrol has a russian theme. We call it the Ruble Glide.

It was better than what my bike guy calls the neighbor's Patrol

My un-restored MT-9 for a few years now has been affectionately know as "Mr. Yuck." It just seemed to fit perfectly.

Pretty much anything goes. Ride it for a while and something will come up.

Hopefully it won't be derogatory or hurt the bike's feelings. :P

Name it as you deem appropriate. For years, mine was known as the "
Rust Bucket" for all the Russian Loc-tite I have on it.

Thenone day as I was workning on it, a Dragonfly perched him(her)self on it and sat there for three hours as I worked on various things. A quick inquiry on the boards as to what the Russian word for dragonfly (strekoza)was and she had a new name.

My MV-750M is named "Bizon"- Russian for Bison. The bike like it's namesake goes through, not around! Like the War Pig, Bizon likes a good wallow ever once in a while! Most of all Bizon loves to roam the plains.

With the amount of riding I ain't getting, I should call my rig "The Lonesome Dove" Poor thing ain't going to recognize me when I finally get near it.

I didn't go with the Russian theme. My dog is named Captain Jack after Capt. Jack Sparrow (but we just call him Jack). So my black Patrol got it's name The Black Pearl. She ain't the fastest rig on the seas, but once I get my cannon mounted, I really won't care.
