Stalling at stoplights

Postby Skylab » Tue Dec 11, 2007 12:10 am

HI All

I have a new 07 gearup (300 km) and after ridding at about 50 MPH for a bit the engine stalls when I pull up to a traffic light. From the few times it has happened I find that after I shut it off and restart it runs find. The RMP at idle sounds good. Anyone have an idea what I can do to fix it. I have turned the idle screws in a 1/8 of a turn after the first time it happened once already.

Thanks, Bruce

Are you turning off the enricheners after it warms up? The bike will run fine for a while, but won't idle when the plugs start to foul.

Hi Bruce,

totally normal to need to blip the throttle at the stops on a brand spanking new engine. as you get some kms on it, like after 5000 or so, things will loosen up nicely and your idle will be easier to control.

happy riding

I had similar issues, and to quote Gummie, these engines "are tighter than a popcorn fart", so they need some time to break in. I just blipped the throttle when she started to die.

Mine did that too. It's part of the break-in. Blip the throttel a little at long lights.

Don't mess with it much intil yer break-in cycle is done.

Come to think of it, mine did exactly the same thing, for about 800 km.. After that it ran pretty well, and still does, most days.
