Flasher, or switch?

Postby Wallybob » Mon Nov 19, 2007 3:44 pm

Hey, on my way home last night, my turn flashers decided to stop flashing. No prob, get home.

First, I checked the fuzes, all ok.

Second, I searched the RI and SS forums, and figured out where the flasher unit is. Got a new one (identical to the old one, BTW), and installed it this afternoon.

Still no blinkies.

I guess my next step, pending wisdom from others figuring this out for me is to open the switch itself, and check the connections and the switch itself. If this does not make sense to you, please tell me. :?

Try another brand of flasher. The Tridon ones are POC. Ya might have another dead flasher in the box. :?

Or if you didn't get the same type, they won't flash. I bought a three prong flasher for the Raven (without taking th eold one with me to the auto parts hut) only to find out I bought the wrong one and it didn't work.

Just a thunk and somehting easy to try before ya go driving yerself crazy in the wiring harness.

I had the same problem. I sprayed some wd in where the unit plugs in and switched all my fuses to new ones.
It works now but the blinker light on my dash allways stays lit.
Could be the unit, could be somthing else.

Have you ridden much, could be just a low battery.

Well, replaced new flasher with the other one, as I had it. Still nothing. Checked the switch at the handle, seems good, still nothing.

Having very little interest in running the wires down, and into the rat nest of the headlight area, I am thinking of just taking it to my local bike shop. I am turning into a bear of very little patience.

Bah, humbug.

I had trouble with mine, just do a little more poking around and you'll find the culprit. It's a common thing.
I had to mess with mine for hours and eventually it just worked again. I took it all apart apart.
It could be the wires behind the fuse block, give some of them a wiggle and see if it helps.
Do all your other lights work?
good luck

Yep, everything else works, just no flashers.

Fortunately, in Alabama, I do not need to have flashers....yeah, but I will get them fixed ASAP.

Good charge on battery. I guess I need to drag out the multimeter. Feh.
