Who insures your Ural?

Postby St0nkingByte » Tue Jan 29, 2008 10:04 pm

I called my insurance agent today to get insurance on the new Patrol. Since it is new I asked her to get me full coverage. She hasn't done many sidecar rigs so she was warning me that it might be considered 'exotic' and thus might be hard to insure? I'm sure she just doesn't know yet.

Anyway she said it might be helpful if I could tell her what companies other Ural owners are using for their insurance. I'm most interested people who have full coverage and your approximate annual cost, if you're willing to share.

Thanks!

They have winter in Canada now? :)

Good to hear its showing on mainline insurance companies, hopefully I can get it added to my existing policy. If not Progressive just spit me a quote for $348 for the year which doesn't seem too bad to me.

Geico, they know what a Ural is and it isn't considered "exotic".

I pay aout $550 a year to insure both rigs with 50/100 lability, comp, collision, and uninsured motorist.

I use Progressive, they had Ural in their database, although the insurance card says "Patrol" instead of "Gear Up".

Not like any LEO would know the difference....... :)

Had Progessive for years then Farm land .Both were very reasonable and I had no problems with either. Switched to Farm land because they gave me a cheaper quote on the HD.

I got a quote from Geico when I registered my Jeeps. Their rate was more than when I went directly to Geico motorcycle. I checked Progressive, and 1 yr was almost as cheap as 6 months of Geico.
95% of all Urals built in the last ten years are still on the road....The other 5% made it home.

Progressive here also- 05 Gear Up, in their database as a "Patrol" for just a bit over $200 in Chi suburbs. Actually, first year it was 240, second it went DOWN to 203. Hoping for another no-claim discount this year too :)

Allstate, where I have home and other car policies (and have for 25+ year) quoted me over $1000/year to add the Ural. They might have good hands, but I didn't want just one finger.

Been with Dairyland for years, Check with my agent befor ordering the '08 Patrol. She quoted a buck and a half for the year  Had her recheck it, seamed surprisingly low to me, she told me it was only 750 and the hack not an issue. I am counting on that being fact, figure it can't be much more if she is wrong.
