I promised Sean I'd post a comment after installing the R3W steering damper on my 2015 cT, but I wanted to get some road time on the unit.
I received and installed the unit in late October 2016 with 4,200 km on the clock. Today (13 Feb 18) I have 8,906 km and no issues whatsoever with the unit. It has acquired some light surface rust on the L bracket and the washers on the heim joint, but there are no leaks or noted shortcomings anywhere else.
How does it perform?
Well, when maneuvering the rig by hand around the yard/driveway it feels a bit like a car with manual steering, smooth but somewhat heavy. But not unmanageable at all. And once underway, all is really smooth. Steering feels even and unimpeded. There's no head shake, yaw or vibration. The steering does not feel heavy while moving.
My stock hydraulic damper failed, before 5 months/4,000km had passed, having purchased the unit in mid-May 2016.
Sean's unit has now been in service without issue for 4,900 km and 16 months without issue. I stored the unit inside for most of last year, but this year, since late summer, it has lived on my partly covered breezeway, "partly" exposed to the elements. This probably explains the appearance of the surface rust.
Final verdict: Excellent product!
