I put 2 gal in the 2.5 can. Enough to get me 60 miles, easier on the rack, easier to pour, never missed the extra 1/2 gal

I carry two, filled with real gas, dash of Stabil, full up to the neck to reduce condensation. No problems. I use them about twice a year just on general principles.

I try to use my full can once a month to keep it fresh. It seems to pressurize less when I keep it really full.
I may not be good, but I'm slow.

Yes.
Just don't fill it to the brim and you'll never have problems.

Mine is kept full with a dash of MMO. When I leave home to head back to work in Iraq I dump the gas into my truck.

I keep mine full and rotated. Never had a steel Nato can bulge out or leak. Long walks in the rain are for you and your lady not you and your empty gas can.

My 2 Cents. I don't have a Jerry can but am constantly faced with the question of long term storage of cars and gasoline.

Gasoline has a limited life as it will spontaneously degrade. If you have ever smelled gasoline that has sat for a long time or had to clean a fuel system full of gasoline varnish you know what I mean.

Stabil and other products like it help but don't last forever.

I recommend that if you keep fuel in the Jerry cans to use it when your fuel tank is empty, then refill the Jerry can with fresh fuel. That way the fuel in the can is fresh all the time.

As far has how far to fill it, more is better so long as it is not overfilled and therefore hard to pour. There is less chance of water vapor condensation if there is less atmosphere in the can and less oxygen to oxidize the fuel. Plus the more fuel in the can, the further you can go if you need to use it.

Ditto. (Unless I've poured it into tank in which case it's refilled at next gas stop,)

And I never vent.

Only put about 8 litres in altho it's "10 litres" but it's up to the spout pretty much at 8 litres. Or, when the pump shuts off, usually for the third time of lifting the nozzle out to get a bit more in.
