Luggage rack mod

Postby jerseybillinva » Sun Apr 15, 2018 9:05 pm

I'd like to remove or relocate spare and modify a rack mount to trunk lid. Has anyone rigged up something like that? Mine is an 05 patrol.

What are you tying to accomplish that the OE over the spare rack won't do?

Once you do a rack like this one or similar, what are you going to do with the spare wheel/tire?

One solution leads to another problem to solve.
Example- a SS member wanted to put a different engine in Ural frame. It wouldn't fit, so he lengthened the frame by 2 inches. Fine for engine. Problem-- now what happens to "Sidecar Lead" dimension and handling with Different Dimension Distances? Who knows??

curious.

YMMV

That is a good question. As I rarely ride more than a few hours from home and have never needed spare, I may not carry it. However just talking about this gaurantees that I will need it. LOl

cT's do not come with a spare. If you want one with a cT, it is an extra add-on. IIRC, Mr. Wazzock does not have a spare wheel/tire/mount gizmo.

There is a matching nose rack in the same style? But that isn't it?
