Glutton for punishment I went out again today in the freezing north wind. Image

Only to get a baked tater at a local tearooms, but did a bit of an unscheduled deviation around some local lanes on the way there.

1. A tearoom or tea shop is a small restaurant where beverages and light meals are served, usually having a sedate or subdued atmosphere.

(I like the second bit) Image

2. lane: a narrow road in the countryside or in a town; a narrow way or passage between hedges, fences, walls, or houses.

3. local: just up the road from where I live :D

I was heading back to work after lunch
literally in the middle of town, on a 5 lane, stopped at a stoplight
3rd back in the inside lane
when a late model Mustang pulls up in the outside next to me
and this sucker is lumpy
it is surgeing from 600 to 1600 rpm
up & down & up & down & up & down..........

The light turns green
the forward two rows pull away
he reves it up to clear it out after the long idle
I blip the throttle twice and let the clutch fly (to pop a little wheelie)
but the back tire turns loose and starts to squeel
the rig is drifting right, toward the Mustang who is just starting to pull away
he freaks out and lets off
and I'm still on the gas and getting the rig straightened up
hit 2nd pop the front wheel
grabbed 3rd
and vroooom the MAD Mustang goes by

I sucked him for the first block!!!!!

Executed a panic stop from about 45 mph thanks to someone texting, doesn't matter, but heard a horrendous scraping-rubbing sound from the rear when stopping. Gingerly accelerated away, everything seemed normal and then it hit me......I HAD LOCKED UP THE REAR BRAKES! Tried it again and yup, the 307's din't screech, they sounded like dragging a cinder block on asphalt. First time in 45,000km they locked up on dry pavement, truing the drums and mepi-ing the shoes really works!

Mr Wazzock, a tearoom would be a coffee shop or cafe here i guess. Us yanks love the coffee you know. Can you generally get a good cup of coffee in the UK? you can always get hot/cold tea here, but would probably make you puke. seams its always a cup of hot water and a Lipton tea bag.

Installed a four-point harness in the sidecar for my daughter when my wife deems her old enough. Changed out the stock headlight for a halogen bulb and the rock guard to go with it, and I installed the fog lights on the brush guard of the side car. Just have to set up a new toggle switch and I'll be rocking!
