Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

Went for a good ride on my Ural for the first time since getting back from my summer adventure. I did 175 miles and the bike ran just fine. That's great because I have been lacking confidence in the Ural after all that happened over the summer. Hoping for some more good luck tomorrow. I plan to take...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

Last week I ordered a new u-joint for the final drive and ordered a Heidenau tire to use as a pusher. Hoping to get those parts ASAP. The u-joint has some play in it and I want to get that fixed before doing any real hard riding. I hope to get better mileage out of the Hidenau than the Duro tire I'v...

Re: FAIR WARNING, not pretty

Geez, I've been frustrated with my Ural and am honestly having a hard time trusting it after the mis-adventure I had with it over the summer, but that's just plain stupid. Yeah, sure, it's his to do as he wishes, but wouldn't it be more wise to try to part it out to salvage as much of the money inve...

Re: Another "bokad"...

I DID ride my Ural to Sturgis and Spearfish and Rapid City and to Hell and back this past summer. I ALMOST became a bokad. Not because I wanted to give up, but my clutch went out on me at 27,000 km right as I got to Rapid City. I was running out of time and no dealership could service my bike for we...

Re: Definitive Ural Rear Brake Light Survey!

Never really had a problem with the rear brake light, or the brake light when using the front brake; the brake lights have always worked for me, so far. It was only a few days ago as I started up and was about to leave for work early in the morning before sunrise, that I found out that the rear ligh...

Re: Got hit today

Wow, that sucks. Glad you're no worse off. It's good to know that after a lick like that, the Ural still got you home. Sorry about idiotic people on the internet and folks who choose to drive purple Mustangs. The thing about idiots on the internet is a reason Soviet Steeds is one of very few interne...

I hadn't ridden my Ural since I got back from my big summer adventure at the end of July. We both needed a break from one another and my Ural literally needed a brake as I lost parts...

Welcome to the asylum, TriumphRider87. Just getting on Soviet Steeds again after not checking in for a while, so I just saw your post and wanted to give you yet another welcome and a big howdy from Texas. I think you've got great taste in bikes; your collection is eclectic, somewhat like my own. I s...

Re: Numb Hands

My numb hands are 41 years old. My right hand has gotten almost back to normal. The thumb and index finger of my left hand has also quit being numb and my pinky never was numb. Now it's just in the middle and ring fingers on the left hand. For the person who asked, yes, I typically ride with my clut...

Re: Feeling happy

I recently stripped one of the holes for the rear brake bolts. I didn't have a torque wrench with me and was doing it by feel and a dose of blue loctite, which I had done several times before. I lost a bolt somewhere along the way and when I inspected the hole, there were no threads. I guess I strip...

Re: Numb Hands

Of all the suggestions, the one which makes the most sense is the bad wrist/arm angle which I believe is caused by the handlebar shape. I think the handlebar curves back too much and I know I have to hold my hands at an unnatural, uncomfortable position to grip the hand grips. Looks like flatter, st...

Numb Hands

In the past month, I rode from the San Antonio area, to South Dakota, then to Wisconsin, and then back to Texas. I did 500+ mile days. One day I rode over 900 miles. In that time, my hands became numb. Well, my finger tips. I made it back home on Wednesday, the 19th. It's now Sunday, the 23rd. My fi...
