On the alignment, did you have the alignment slides marked with paint or nail polish?

No, I never did because that's something I didn't even consider when I first had the clutch problem last year in South Dakota.

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

The bike is currently on the lift getting the new parts installed. Darn, I had a good alignment between the bike and hack. Hopefully they will put it back together with a good setup.

Re: Photos of (mostly) Pre-Revolution Irbit.

Cool. Many of those photos look like they could have come from some parts of the US in that same time period. Some looked like Old West photos, others look like they could have come from the mid-west rust belt.

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

I just got off the phone with Josh from IMZ-Ural. We discussed the issue. He and I will both be on top of this. I talked with him about how the issue with my clutch plates and how I don't know why I've had such bad luck. He is going to be looking into possible causes. I told him the suggestions I've...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

I know, patience. And really, I'm alright waiting for my bike to get fixed. But, my Ural's been broke down, waiting for parts and repair for weeks now. I dropped it off at a dealership in early/mid May and the warranty is set to expire at the beginning of August. I'd read somewhere that if your bike...

Re: Which helmet com system?

I have the 20s so that I can listen to music and also not miss any important phone calls when out riding. Last year, my daughter needed a new helmet and what I got her was the Bilt modular helmet with the integrated bluetooth from Sena. It works with my 20s. We're able to both listen to the same mus...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

Does Texas have a lemon law? Yes, Texas does have a Lemon Law but it states that the problem causing the break down must be the same problem at least three occurrences over some specified amount of time. I've had a plethora of problems, not the same exact problem each time. This is twice for the cl...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

Having not heard from AF1 about the status of my Ural, I called today and found out they are still waiting for parts to come in. It's been about a month since they've had it, so I'm guessing the parts are coming from Russia. Dang. I've made two monthly payments on this bike since I've been able to ...

Re: Iron Butt Association rides: Anyone completed a Saddle Sore 1000?

It can be done. Last summer I came damn close. I left Rapid City, SD and had to return a bad clutch to a Ural dealership in Spearfish, SD. I did that and then headed directly from Spearfish to Hartford, WI. I didn't really plan on the iron butt thing, but started considering it as I was going along,...

But you folks missed the best part, and I quote, "749cc Our bikes are happy cruising between 65 and 75 mph. Our 749cc engine combined with powerful low end torque is the perfect size to compliment the steering dynamics of our all steel sidecar." I love my Ural's but anyone who will believ...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

I successfully got the bike up to AF1 for the service of the gearbox and clutch. I asked about trade in and they looked at my bike and said it would be best to get the service done before pursuing any trade in deal. Fair enough. The bike doesn’t have its 2WD shaft in or windshield installed on the s...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

The bike pretty much spent the last week, since Saturday, put together. I put the bike on a trickle charger a few days ago and fired it up today. Man, I just don't know. It's still squealing when pulling in the clutch, but not nearly as loudly, but for some reason the clutch pull doesn't feel as hea...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

checking the fluid levels, I notice the oil smells suspiciously like gasoline. That's a clear indication of problems on a carbureted motorcycle: aged o-rings on the float and/or the petcock diaphragm assembly (or a torn diaphragm itself). I'm curious to know how fuel would leak into the crankcase o...
